'Fess up time - Whats the worst gift you ever gave?

and was it deliberate or accidental?
my inspiration for this thread was the other one on the useless/worst gift you ever recieved.

I will admit to giving an aunt well known for her useless gifts - a huge tin of toffees - knowing full well her partial dentures couldnt cope with them! that was revenge on her giving mum a childs barbie umbrella! before that mum usually got QVC jewellery! and not even the better kind - the 'gifts for under a tenner kind'!

    Evil woman.:D

I gave my middle on a pack of 3 stress balls (with happy faces on) as a stocking filler once. He's not really into jokey stocking fillers so he re-wrapped it and gave it to his brother the following year and I never even realised. :rotfl:

When we were very skint many years ago I re-gifted one of those Boots talc/bath foam/body lotion sets. Unfortunately the original gifter had written on the actual box and I didn't notice until it had been opened by the new recipient.:o

I don't actually think I've given really bad presents, I'd tend to send nothing, than something crap :o

Bought tickets for me and my OH to go see a comedian we really wanted to see (not as a present for anything though) and a close friends birthday came around and I had very little cash, so re gifted them to her and OH missed out :o

  • My grandad once bought my nana a chip pan! The worst thing was, he thought it was a brilliant present!
  • I don't think I've ever given a rubbish gift, certainly not intentionally anyway. I put a lot of time and thought into each one I buy and thats why I get narked when I get a thoughtless one in response.

awwwwwwwwwwww - come on! I can't be the only one 'evil' here can I? oh well, maybe so.

but, I have to say, my mums pressies from the aunt have improved since - much to mums amazement!
  • we bought someone a huge jar of chocolates from b and m bargains for £2.99, they decided they werent doing presents this year so we have spent the last few days eating them ourselves. they gave me and my friend the exact same present last year (we are very different) so we bought a jar for him to give them too, he didnt get a christmas invite from them either, despite constantly bending over backwards to help them, i wouldnt be surprised to see the jar of chocs coming to our house with him on new years eve (or them being put on his desk at work for his colleagues to eat haha)
Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?
  • Oh, should I admit this? We have a sibling that re-married and now has 6 children, 3 of whom are old enough to get a job etc. We are expected to buy for the 2 adults plus the children - which we simply can't afford so for the last couple of years I've bought something as inexpensively as poss (under £3) in the Boots sale for the older ones. I do try and make it look nice but I do feel guilty.

They have a thing about spending a tenner on everyone but we just can't throw £80 at one family. Luckily we don't actually see them open the pressies :o
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

its not the cost of the gift - I really dont care if it cost pennies or pounds! I am grateful for something I like or want or need!
lol - for example - I dont like need or want fake pearls - I did ask for - want a food processor. I have no idea why my OH thought I would prefer a fake pearl necklace!
and my DIL - who is a complete ditz - bought me a lovely cardigan, a gorgeous scarf and gloves!
of all my pressies - Hers was the best cos she put a lot of thought into it! and got the right sizes!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Me and my sister give each others "older" family stupid presents under a fiver, (it's done on purpose). Last year she got a "stress willy". This year "he" got a design your own vag*na game.

    Love it.
