    Morning All

Can I declare at £224.73 for the month please.

As hoped this leaves me a £25 surplus to add to my 2nd purse to buy more stock.

Thanks to those who run this thread, it is an inspiration.

well declaring an embarrassing £267.78 for january, a massive £67.78 over
on the plus side though i have a full freezer, more cat food than the mogs can turn their noses up at and lots of menus to keep us going til spring! mind you did open my last tin of toms yesterday ( tomato and lentil soup, yum!) so still got to go shopping

at least i know where i am going wrong, got to stop stock piling stuff just for the sake of it, unless it is on offer of course:D

so just going to make dinner for the next few days, have a pack of pork shoulder steaks that are going to become pork in a mustard and cider sauce and sweet and sour for tomorrow, thurs meal out courtesy of a groupon offer and friday is a heston veal burger which was a whoopsie half price offer from mr w's, i love being this organised!

I failed this challenge in spectacular fashion but I am determined to keep to £270 this month then reduce to £250 for March. My local farm shop is advertising freshly dug potatoes for £5 for a 25kg bag which by my reckoning is a good deal so I will run down this weeks shopping and then hit the potatoes hard next week and the whole of Feb :rotfl:

My local farm shop have been selling a 25kg bag of potatoes for several months now for £2.99, they are brilliant potatoes and I am still amazed at how cheap they are. Had two bafs so far you watch next time I go back they will have doubled in price.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

OK so this was my first full on mse month. All I know about last year was we were spending way over earnings  so decided to set household at £750 to include not only food but also stuff like cleaning, light bulbs, DS's clothes, going to the pub etc etc etc. Came in at £697.24 so feeling pleased with first month as this means we have not only kept within earnings but have £297.53 saved :j There were 5 weekly shops in Jan and only 4 in Feb, but have decided for rest of year to go for £20 per day, so Feb will be £580. Also hoping for an £80 rebate from Virgin as they have 'lost' our last payment despite the bank saying it went out to exactly the number Virgin gave us. Paid again as they sent nasty debt collectors letter.

Am up to £391 now, though I do need some spread today and possibly some milk but won't be more than a tenner so I think I can safely say I have come in under this month - finally. Interestingly I have not used Tesco this month, usually I would be in there a few times a week. I have been to Morrisons a few times and Aldi a lot, with a few top ups and whoopsie sprees in waitrose and co-op. I don't miss Tesco and the longer I spend away the less inclined I am to go back, though I will miss the clubard points. I seem to go through phases with supermarket, I am at least half an hour from all but co-op but I do have a reasonable choice once I do drive out of my way, it just depends on which direction.
