Hi everyone - Well January challenge went slightly 'off course' this weekend, however still only spent £340 in total on Groceries alone!? However plan on trying to keep to £250 for February - especially short month. Also on this thread-sorry if sounds silly but do you only include food stuffs in Grocery challenge or do you add Car/travel costs?0

Well done on making it through the first month!:D
It's really up to you what you want to include .. or not!
I know some people include fuel but others don't.
As I live in a pretty rural area, car travel is a necessity every day and I have a separate budget for fuel.
It's an 18 mile round trip to the nearest fuel station and sm  (I always have lots of bread & milk as ain't going all that way just for them!;)). As I have to go for fuel anyway, I go to the sm whilst there so don't add these costs to my GC.
My personal GC includes groceries (alcohol / any work lunches if I run out of stuff / takeaways etc), household cleaning stuff and toiletries but I don't include pet costs as I have a separate budget for them.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

First time in doing this challenge so I guessed at what I spent, I have just updated my totals for this month. Noting everything I spent was an eye opener but I have came in under budget woop woop
:j:j:j
£263.98/£300
I also included all my magazines, toiletries and cleaning items in this as I buy these at the supermarket and this includes a big shop at Aldi tonight for all my cupboard items as i have ate out a lot this month from cupboards and freezer. I am really pleased roll on next month.
Please put me down for £300 again for February.
I am going to stick to this amount for a few months to see how I go and then maybe reduce it to the average over 3 months.:DPay off ALL my debt by Xmas 2012 ChallengePaid Jan £1027.83/Feb £917.97/Mar £1353.67/Apr £1367.19#259 Total £4643.67/£12,636:eek:Lose 14lbs in 2012 9/14lbs:eek::TJanuary Grocery Challenge £263.98/£300:TFebruary Grocery Challenge £0/£300

What a shame Souk, I feel for you re the freezer. Well done all on amazing achievements and progress. As Spiggs says, it has to get easier once it gets to be a habit. As opposed to lining the sms' pockets being a habit - for far too long. Pity it's only necessity that's driven me here in earnest but better late than never.
Declared for the month, slightly under budget and aiming to trim it next month, 2 days less but we are away a couple of those days, food for which comes out of the same budget, plus 2 birthdays to cater for, so not sure how it will go...
Thanks again MUCHLY to everyone on here, especially the old hands (no offence meant!) who are so helpful and full of useful info. See you all on the Feb thread :wave:0 -
Well, I've rounded off the month with 2 NSDs, so declaring a final [overspend] total of...
£112.43/£100
for January - and I missed my slightly ambitious NSD target by 3, which, TBH, is closer than I expected to get to it.
Onward and downward [for the £ total] and upward [for the NSDs] :THaven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides.0
