Evening all, just a small spend of 87p on a loaf of bread today. I have £43.19 left for this month's budget. Not sure whether to declare this today and start Feb's budget tomorrow. Don't think we'll be going shopping in the next few days. We have plenty of food to use up and can do without what we haven't got. Going to try and bake my very first loaf this weekend. Wish me luck. :rotfl:
Hugs to all.
Me and my big mouth! Ended going to Mr M's with DH, DD and DGS. Good job I hadn't put the rest of Jan's budget in the S.Pot. Used £28.36 of it on s*d all. And I hadn't even had a drink! :rotfl:
Rising, I hope that redundancy doesn't come your way but just in case the worst happens, I think maybe you should raise your budget and stock up the best you can. Good luck.
Many Large Hugs to you and all who need one.S.P.C. 9 2016 No. 062 Banked £337.50

Pouting : what about a fish stew? Not something I would have thought to do in the past but my eldest son suggested making it and it really was nice. Its really good to use up bits of fish and the few left over prawns from the bottom of the bag. You can put allsorts into it such as fennel, chick peas, potatoes.
I make mine based on this recipe but I change it about depending on whats in the fridge/freezer. I sometimes add peas and green beans and use mixed seafood instead of prawns.

Hmm have a load of pouting in the freezer what to do with it? Suggestions? Gotta be dairy free and tomato free. Am so bored of just baking or pan frying it!

Pouting - white fish that can be frozen [if its fresh] - we get it when its reduced and freeze same day, nice alternative to Cod
Rising - if you can afford it then I think you should bulk buy the expensive/most used stuff now but try to keep your budget the same, just take the hit now instead of later and I hope you manage to keep your job, remember, you're not alone when you have all of us x

Just made a bottom of the fridge frittata using up sorry veg and some smoked salmon. Dinner tomorrow for me and then lunches. DH will have a leftover roast beef dinner from the freezer.
Indulged tonight with sirloin steak and chips. I was going to do haggis but they didn't have any Macsweens at Mr T and I refuse to compromise. Dog is now sitting staring at the leftover fat and gravy and drooling:D
Played freezer tetris again and we have plenty other than fresh fruit and veg. Just made a loaf in BM. Why is it that home made bread disappears twice as fast as bought? I don't even eat the stuff.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -

Can I just say a big "thank you" to all of you who've replied. It was my gut instinct to try to stockpile where I can but it's so difficult to know if you're making the right decision so.... having you all say the same thing has made me feel much better :T
I don't have huge amounts of money left once all the bills are paid / money put into the budgeting pots but I can afford to spend the odd £10 - £20 here and there if the offers are great.
Touch wood, if my job is OK, I can balance the budget later and put any underspends into a savings pot to help with something else.
Now kicking myself as there were tinned tomatoes 4 for £1 at Mr T this morning ... and didn't buy any!:oGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
