Spent £78.34 this weekend on groceries. OH away on site for most of the next week so will not have the chance to really go shopping. Fingers crossed for a few nsd's
have enough cereal to last out at least the rest of the month and the same with main meals plus 3 full boxes of baby formula so I think I'm going to come in well under budget

My trip to Mr M's resulted in £11.32 spends, I ended up getting
3 pkts of bbq jumbo sausages @ 3 for £5 but went through and £4.50,
1 ys pkt of bbq jumbo sausages @ 99p rebagged due to split,
1 bag mini carrot and potato waffles @ £1
2 x ys rice puddings with clotted cream @79p each,
2 x ys Liver and bacon pate rolls @19p each,
1 bag of bbq doritos @ £1.98:eek:
1 x ys corkscrew bottle opener @ 29p
1 x crusty rolls @60p
Doritos were to replace a bag that OH, DD1 and I demolished the other day before DS2 and DD2 got a chance to try any
Waffles are to go with some of the jumbo sausages, DS2 gets his waffles as a treat and doesn't realise that they have carrot in
The rolls were for lunch to go with the ys pate.
Not much ys meat and veg, just a couple of bits with pennies off.

As I binned my meal plan with yesterday's shopping list I thought I would quickly review my larder drawers as I tend to forget some of the stuff in there.
OMG Horror of horrors - loads of canned tuna that was out of date. I'm talking 5 cans BBE Jun 11 but worse than this I had 7 cans dated BBE 2003-2005! I thought we liked tuna... Worst of all was a blown tin of pineapple chunks and a can of refried beans that "expired" in 1998 - yes, 11 years ago (that means it's been through 2 house moves since it went out of date)
I really must avoid buying things just because they are on offer as I then forget them.
Anyway, then I started recording what I've got in order to develop a standard items list in a spreadsheet and thought I should check out the start-up tips at the beginning of the thread. They are brilliant and well worth a (re)read. Loving the Mothership multi purse system in message 6. I might add cataloguing my cupboards to my "things to do so I don't have to do housework" list:rotfl:Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Had a great stroke of luck on Friday at the market, though it did result in an "overspend" of £5 on what I thought I was going to spend. I bought a chicken to roast tonight, and that was going to be it for buying meat for the week, as I'm trying to eat through the contents of the freezer. But the butcher, who's been supplying me & mine for nearly 20 years, asked whether I'd be interested in 4 450g packs of steak mince for a fiver - he'd had them out of the cooler for a while the day before & they'd discoloured a little, but were still well within their sell-by & smelt fine. Too good to miss... I said yes. My friend bought one off me as she'd been going to buy mince anyway, but when I got home, there were still 4 packs in there! So basically I got 5 450g packs of "finest" steak mince (his beef comes from his own non-routine-medication suckler herd) for £1 each. We had two packs as HM burgers on Friday night (I was feeding 7, mostly young adults, and the burgers were beautiful if I say it myself!) and there are two in the freezer for another day. Sometimes it is worth being flexible & spending a little more than you've budgeted for...Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
