I've been trying to catch up on and off all day - can't believe how quickly this thread moves
Happy belated birthday Tracy12 and happy birthday Budget123
Hugs to anyone who needs one
Did my weekly shop on Friday and decided, in the interest of money saving to check all the prices against My Supermarket(Sainsbobs) before I went out so that I'd know whether what I was buying was cheapest in A!di / L!dl as I was going to these two first, then go to Sainsbobs for any bits I'd not managed to get. It was quite an interesting exercise.
I came out of A!di very pleased as I'd only spent £28.51 and I'd got almost everything on my list. Picked up 3 things in L!dl so spent £2.43 then finished up in Sainsbobs - nearly had kittens as I managed to spend £27.96 - admittedly I bought a pork shoulder joint (£5.50), a large jar of Kenco defaff (£5.67) and 12 cartons of UHT milk (they'd sold out in A!di), but apart from that it felt like I'd hardly bought anything
Anyway, cooked the pork shoulder in the slowcooker, we had it for dinner last night and I've frozen the rest in portions for the two of us - another 4 meals worth of meat. It was yummy so I think I might be doing that again
This little haul came to £58.90, so I've spent £105.16 of my £250 budget so far this month (we're about 25% of the month and I've spent 42% of the money - hope I can manage a couple of cheap weeks now).
Shouldn't need anything now till Friday
Happy shopping (or NSD!)

Hi All
Happy belated birthday Tracy12
Soooo - my spends today included....
£4.99 for lunch from the Brick Lane street market
£3.50 for dinner from the Brick Lane street market
and £3.50 on 2 yummy Whoopie pies;) One was full price and one was half price at the end of the day which I couldn't refuse. Not sure why really - I have 6 cakes in the freezer gifted to me from my nan at Christmas, a box of Heroes from Christmas, Shortbread, Wafers and Liqurice Allsorts. I really don't NEED any more sweet things!
So £11.99 on food all day. I guess it's not that bad. Certainly cheaper than going to a restaurant and paying tips etc. I had my meals paid for me yesterday, which should have been a grocery budget day, so I will count today's food in my grocery rather than entertainment budget if that makes sense?
A couple of beers from my entertainment budget, and since I had no smokes I don't begrudge the spends as much. :T
A fun day walking around Shoreditch/Brick Lane/Spitalfields...looking at the stalls, would never ever pay the prices they charge, but it's nice just to have a walk around and 'do' something. I needed to stay active today as I felt as though I would have torn my hair out if I stayed at home all day today.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Pathetically pleased with myself for managing to butcher a whole FR chicken (£5 from Ald*, vs £^+ for 2 breasts from M*S). Never done it before but managed it with the instructions from HF-W's meat book. Hurrah! A victory!0
