Looks like insurer due to year,FOS will take time to deal with this, hope they give you a positive conclusion before too long.
  • I just wanted to share my story with the claim against Central (don't) Trust through FOS. My journey started back in November 2009, when I contacted Central Trust directly, and within a few weeks, they send me their final response saying 'sorry, there was no mis-selling of PPI, this is final, please go away'… or something along those lines…. so I contacted FOS in March 2010. three months later (Jun/July 2010), I was contacted by an adjudicator who concluded that I was mis-sold of PPI. Central Trust replied…'no there was mis-selling' but as a token of how we valude our customers, we will offer you 'a proportionate rebate' (since I had already paid off the loan)…which translated to something like 'here take this fiver, and shut up'. Because the previous adjudicator had left her position (due to overworked and stress i am sure), another adjudicator took over in Jan 2011, and he wrote a couple of time, stated that my case is in the queue for Ombudsman's review. Then in July 2011, got a letter from a new adjudicator, and she said, she had another look at my case (while waiting in the queue for Ombudsman), and she wrote again to Central Trust after the Judicial review, stating to them that I was mis-sold of the PPI. Again central trust came back and said "NO". Lastly, my case was eventually being reviewed by the Ombudsman in early December 2011, who found the claim was in my favour, and had given me (to accept their decision) and Central trust (to just pay up) to respond by mid Jan 2012. I am sure this will go on a few more months for Central Trust to pay up.
So this story is just to let people know to
    1) be prepared for a long journey
    2) eventually justice will prevail
    3) be patient
Thanks and happy new year to everyone here on MSE

    So here is where

So the Ombudsmans line of "all claims are dealt with on a date basis" are a pack of lies then. Why am I not surprised? lol

Well done on your win

  • Hi

Can anyone help. I'm trying to find out the underwriters for my PPI insurance for my first plus loan.

My loan was with first plus but obtained through Norton Finance . first plus have written to me stating that as the loan and PPI was obtained through norton finance my claim rests with them.

When I contacted norton finance they state they have no records of who their insurance underwriters were in November 2003.

I have spoken to the FOS who state that I could potentially proceed with a claim against the underwriters if I can find out their details.

The only details I have from first plus is that my documents say the underwriters are IMPLEMENT , unfortunately no records exist anywhere of this company.

If anyone had a loan around this time can you please check your document s for any information regarding any underwriters

    Thanks

Anyone dealing with Norton are in for the long haul, they will deny miss ell, If the FOS agree with you they will still say no, so then you have to wait even longer for your case to be reviewed by the Ombudsman, and even then they will drag their heels, id say 2 years minimum.

My loan was in 2004 and the insurers are Cassidy Davis part of lloyds !! Taken out via norton so I am guessing yours is the same , Just spoken to FOS and they are looking to see if the insurers are responsible and if they took any financial gain from norton / first plus selling their insurance !! They bloody are I am still paying for a insurance I have no longer got ! If that isn't financial gain I don't know what is ,,
It still has to be decided by FOS if they can pursue this route that is why it's taking so long they have to make sure it is right .
