    When my wife went to buy a CD for her mother for Christmas, she thought to herself 'who else knows she might want this CD?' - then spoke to them and asked them not to. Job done.

    Not allowing non-faulty refunds on CD's/DVD's/Games is fairly common policy for previously mentioned reasons. Buying online helps get around this though.

    As a side-note, people often forget that we have some of the 'best' statutory protection laws for consumers, and on top of that most retailers offer fairly generous additional rights. On this occasion they are not offering these additional rights, yet are 'the bad guys'.
  • The THREAD is titled that because the OP bought her son a CD from Tesco. The reason that CD needs to go back is because her sons girlfriend bought him the same CD - there's nothing saying where she got that CD from so it's a perfectly valid question.
