You can ask tesco in store, they might offer an exchange but generally like most shops cd's aren't refundable. i manager to communicate with people for birthday/christmas present buying.
You manage to communicate with everyone? So say you give presents to 10 people, and they get presents from 10 others, you can communicate with 100 people?0 -
i know at my local tesco they dont do refunds on cds or dvds (if dvd is out of seal) and if its faulty will only swap for the same item.
they have signs in the entertainment section about this too - its to stop people from buying a cd, copying it onto their laptop/computer and then returning it, and getting the music/films for free essentially
i know this isnt the situation here, but thats why theyve had to do it - stores round here have signs saying that but obv i dont know if all of them do
id suggest just popping in and having a polite chat with the person on CS - they may do it as a goodwill gesture for christmas. stores tend to have more authority for bending the rules whereas HO will just state the standard procedure0 -

But no-one has the right to change anything just because they've changed their minds or they've been given two copies of something.
If stores do offer this service then its down to goodwill on their part and if they dont' that doesn't make them the devil personified.
The cellophaning of cds/dvds will be down to the manufacturer/distributor - and not Tesco and I've no doubt that if there was a sign stating their policy on returns, there would be compliants that it wasn't large enough / prominent enough etc.
As I said before communication (or lack of it) is the key here not Tesco's policy2014 Target;

I would imagine if it had cellophane on it then they would accept it back for refund or exchange, but as most cds from tesco are not cellophaned wrapped, how is it the consumers fault ? they had not got any warnings in the store by the cds to say that they wouldn't do a refund or exchange either - what can I do now!! I only wanted an exchange and would of paid any extra money if it cost more. I think this is bad for consumers and we get a rough deal from this as it seems that Tesco can just keep your money and you have no rights!! Thanks
Where was the other one bought from?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

If the item is being returned within a reasonable time, that could be contrary to the SOGA.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

If I was buying something that I knew I couldn't return or would have difficult returning then I would definitely make sure it was known that I was buying it.2014 Target;

No, I would not expect to be able to exchange an item because I had a duplicate. If I thought that a duplicate may be a possibility I would check the store policy before buying, not afterwards!0 -

I dotn even know 10 people who like the same music anyway, dont see it an issue to communicate with people to make sure no same present is bought.0 -
