Hi Comfort
I would support all the advice here about thinking it over carefully and weighing up all the pros and cons.
I've been mostly self-employed since my children were born (the oldest are 12 now), so that I could juggle my work hours around them and be home lots. I am glad I've done it but we are in a huge heap of debt and that's not very good for children either, as we are always so stressed and preoccupied.
Your feelings of guilt and indecision could be part of what's unsettling your daughter, she may well be able to handle the long days if she knew that you were wholly confident it was the right thing.
Best of luck whatever you decide.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I agree with the posters who have said talk to your boss! Could you do some of the work from home via a pc/ phone? Or work 2 or 3 days a week? Could you job share with a student who would love to work the holidays but can't work term time? Failing all this, do not feel guilty if you step down from full time work. My DS3 was 13 and struggling with school cos he hated it so much, I stepped down from a really well paid job to 16 hrs p/w in a supermarket, big decision as a single parent, and I suppose I'm still paying for it financially, but I have NEVER regretted it, he is well adjusted and confident 4 years later!0
