:)Hi Everyone
Please can i join you all in an attempt to make christmas 2012 as money neutral as possible? Never done reviews or surveys before but just signed up to chow and dooyoo so will have a gander at these tonight
Ive been a regualar on ebay for some time now but last year any money i made i kept in paypal all year and then used the money to pay for my order from superdrug for my dads aftershave and a few other cristmas presents, mums radley purse and various other christmas pressies which was great as it felt like i wasnt paying for them as no money left my bank :T
This year i aim to do the same with ebay, i used to do alot of crafting although have not got much done this year although hopeing to change that next year to make so extra pennies towards birthday and christmas presents, i have tonnes of equipment aswell as die-cutting machines as i used to have a little shop on ebay when i didnt work full time but going to try selling a few bits to make some money. Got loads of wrapping paper and tags ready for next year just need to get some christmas cards but havnt had chance yet as been in work everyday since boxing day :mad: got a day off next tuesday so hoping there's still some left in the sames0 -

Welcome to all the newbies who have joined today.
Jamtart - yes they've been doing them regularly - sometimes it's appliances, makeup, garden etc. They also have comps - the best review out of the hat on a certain subject. This month it's you favourite winter sport experience. It's worth £7 for less than 700 words - should be easy.Sledging when you were kids.
I'm just off to sort out the Challenge - be back soon xI :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Thanks Sambamamba, Boots would be lovely, I don't really mind where the vouchers are for (just mentally spending before I've got it!) it'll be a nice surprise when they turn up!
Good point about the payment details, I hadn't thought of that although I tend to use cash in store so I know where I am.0 -
Challenge 1: January 2011.

2. OPEN A SEPARATE CHRISTMAS SAVINGS ACCOUNT.
If you haven't already, can you open a separate savings account for Christmas money? It will be so much easier for you (and you'll be less likely to break into it).
See if there's any offers on Quidco for an online account - setting it up is easy, it'll take 5 minutes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
3. THE AIM IS TO MAKE £50 ON EBAY (after all ebay/paypal fees and postage has been taken into account).
Have a sort out and see if theres any presents you received that you don't like and can re-gift. If there's something you wouldn't give to your worst enemy. List that.
Have a sort through the kid’s toys and list anything they haven't played with in a while.
Have a general de-clutter and see what else you can find. You may be amazed. If you've not done eBay before give it a go (there's an easy guide in the first couple of posts) - it's a bit addictive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Save for January sales!
Find a sealed money box, and every time you come home from shopping, empty your purse of all the coppers (silver too if you want to save more).
This is not to be opened UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - this will be opened on the 17th December (a week before Christmas) in readiness for the Sales.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This seems like a lot, but the hard work is going to be the eBay one. Remember you have a whole month to complete it, so don't rush. Take your time!!!
List a few items a week, and let it run it's course. Then list a few more. This is not a competition who can earn the most - it's a challenge to see if YOU can earn £50 by turning unwanted stuff into money.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!
Excellent challenge, will join some more of the survey sites later. Have already got a seperate account so that is done.
Most excited about the ebay challenge, will give me a kick up the bottom to get rid of the junk in the loft. Does anyone know when the next free listing weekend is?
Like the idea of the pot of money for sales but always shop with a cash back cc that I pay off every month so won't be able join in with that.0 -
Ooh thanks for the challenges, I always feel really motivated when I read them
.
Challenge 1 - I'll work through the list tonight and see what I'm not a member of. I joined quite a few last year that I then didn't really get on with so I'm going to be a bit more choosy this time especially since I don't have loads of time to dedicate to surveys. I'll ask for referrals for any before I join
2 - DONE. I've got my savings account from previous years so I'll just use that again.
3 - I'm so up for a good Ebay challenge! I surprised myself with how much I made last year, especially in the last few months. I've already got a few bits sorted ready to list. Also, if this baby is a girl then I can list LOADS of baby boys clothes, blankets etc that we saved from DS just in case! Ooh, I could list all my maternity clothes soon as well. Although that depends on how long it takes me to get back in my normal clothes, so it definitely won't be in time for the January challenge :rotfl:.
4 - Savings tin started and will hopefully be full in 12 months time!
Thanks so much Elysia, the challenges are always really inspiring and give me a good shove each month.Making money for Christmas 2012!0
