Tricksie Lovely to hear from you. Sounds as though you had a lovely day. Hope all goes well with your treatment. Is it only three weeks till your big day :)

Our big day was actually in May of last year, but I was diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks before the wedding, so honeymoon had to be postponed :(

I'm nearing the end of my treatment now, 4/15 radiotherapy this morning.

DH on lates (2-10) all week so lots of lovely stitchy time for me :)

Louise Same sentiments as everyone else. Really sad news, my thoughts are with you.

Maria, that will be Al, kit is here. If she doesn't have the colour you want just ask her for it and she will design a chart/kit for it, but looking in her shop under people it looks like she has most colours covered. I have just pre-ordered my next huge personalised kit from her, love her huge charts.

Have fun, and don't blame me for any extra purchases ;) :rotfl:

I use it for everything - if something is too small to fit the frame (if I'm making coasters or the like) then I just hold the fabric in my hand. I used to have a floor frame but it was too bulky and a pain in the bum to turn it over to cut the threads when I had finished. With the lap frame you can just slide one side out, flip it over to the back and snip.

I sit it on a cushion on my knee rather than directly on my legs, it makes it more steady and raises it up a little higher so my posture isn't so slouched.

That kit you have linked to - 11" will be the width of the design so it would fit the frame as there should be excess fabric at the sides.

As for Tatty Teddy....I love the character, I don't even mind backstitch generally but I won't titch any more of them myelf because of the backstitch :o If I absoulutely 'had' to then I would use evenweave because the stitch is between the holes on aida fabric.

Thank you for your input re the frame. *runs off to check bank balance* and see if there are enough pennies left :D

Re Tatty Ted, I do have another of his designs somewhere else so may have a go at that first. I mean, where on earth would you start stitching on this design ???

I do agree that the back stitch/fur is off putting hence why I shall probably try a smaller design first but I do remember stitching Elmo many years ago and the backstitch on that being a complete faff but I persevered and it turned out ok. I am a more confident stitcher now so hopefully it would turn out ok.

It doesn't seem like much when you look at how much I have done when it's been marked off the chart, and you realise there are 3 more A4 pages left to stitch lol

    Wow that tiger is lovely.

Flat eric - Re stitching tatty ted I did a bookmark - not as accurate as it could have been but still looks good. :D Although the backstitch is very off putting, I didn't mind it too much on him because it makes such a big difference and is easy to work round his outline.

On that big pic I would either do one on the little pics at a time or just start with that very colourful watering can in the top right!!

I'm not sure I would be able to do that pic soulie. It very all the same colour at the mo! Think I would get too bored and confused what I'd done. Which is a round about way of saying its very impressive, well done! Keep perserviring it will look fab when finished.

PP how is your foot doing? (it was your foot/ankle wasn't it...?)

The same way I start every design - find the centre and work outwards and around. In that design it looks like the chair is the most central, then I would do the rest of the bear with the teapot, go left to the bear with the cake then up and clockwise.

The reason I do the bottom last is that it's easier to have excess fabric pinned at the top of the frame than it is at the bottom.

Soulie - I am loving those sky colours, you must be desperate to get onto a bit of eagle, it's really going to stand out :)

I don't know whether to blame Maria or pap,;) but I had forgotten how much I like that site and startd browsing the fantasy designs. I still want to do the eye (maybe in blue) but I have also spotted this:

http://www.alscross-stitch.co.uk/ourshop/prod_809913-CHAINED-FAIRY-.html , which I think is lovely in a sad sort of way. It's not my usual style but it is a design which made me think 'what is the background story behind that design' I reckon I could stitch it within 2 months so I might set myself a challenge to keep myself busy.

Mags - love it! And thanks for backstitch tips!

So we had house guests this weekend, who were giving a lift to another of their friends a lift to near here... And due to the snow, the other person ended up staying too! So it was quite interesting for me to deal with, but then the gap between perseverance and foolhardyness closed, i got on with it, put cushions down in the office, and it was good. The extra girl fitted in really well and even taught me crochet! Woop!

And I've finished stitching Peace... :j I only had the snow to do so it was quite apt really. I'll post a pic asap.

Oh and my lap Frame came today! Woop! :j I started the squirrels from cross stitcher this afternoon and it was easy to put the fabric in and get going :D
