Shelly - still loving the tiger.

Flat Eric - I'd stitch the Tatty Ted design the same as Louise from the middle out. The only thing I'd probably do differently is that I'd do the backstitch on each Teddy as I finished it so that I didn't risk getting all the cross stitch done and not being able to face the backstitch.

Lancs Lady - your angel islovely.

Soulie - your eagle design is coming on a treat. Well done for keeping going through the sky.

Louise - I can't seem to see the design you like - not that it matters. There are some lovely designs on that site. Not only could I waste lots of time looking through it I could spend a fortune.

And now for my update - I'm pleased with my progress this week. Doubt I'll manage to do as much next week.

Soulie. Nice progress, love the bright colours.

Ailsb. That's alot of progress in a week! Can't wait to see it finished.

Flat eric. I completely agree with both Louise and Ailsb. Find the middle of the chart and fabric and work out from the centre. I too would do the backstitch as I went along.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • Hey observer.

yea its the ankles. bit better, havent left the house in a few days as snow + crutches = not wise.

    thanks for askin

update a bit later for those who like my roses :)

  • Louise I am sorry for the hard times you and your family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Ailsb - your blackwork looks brilliant - so detailed! Well done!

I have done no stitching for the past few days, I have had various health problems but I did wind all my threads onto bobbins and they are now in very fancy storage boxes, nicely upgraded from sandwich bags inside a tesco bag. Now I think I will perhaps chart out (look over DH shoulder) as he charts out aida for this project and then get the threads ready

Sorry cant seem to insert link to picture but it is vintage flowers I am going to give to my Nanny

If you have stitched a tatty ted, is the backstitch really as bad as it looks?

In my opinion yes but then I really don't like doing backstitch. However you don't have to follow the pattern exactly for the fur effect. The other thing to bear in mind is that there are multiple shades of grey so I found the stitching grew quite slowly for the size of the designs. They are cute though

My 9 year old daughter has started cross stitch, and whilst she's only doing small projects at the minute, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what we could do with them when they're finished? I was thinking of perhaps making a couple of small cushions with them, but after that I'm pretty stumped.

Any suggestions would be welcome :)

    Love your Angel of Spring.

Coasters are a nice and easy way of displaying small designs I usually get mine from Debbie Cripps who also sells keyfobs which could be suitable. Adding some lavender or pot pourri to small cushions makes them into scented sachets for drawers or wardrobes.
  • Hope your treatment goes well tricksie and that you both have a wonderful time.

Looking forward to seeing your progress Soulie

Love your blackwork Ailsb - it looks really effective.

Make the most of your rest time PP. Must agree crutches and snow don't make a good combination. Love your roses btw.

Hope you're feeling better soon benny and well done on getting all your threads sorted. I started to do mine - got most done but ive still got quite a few left over from kits still on cards to sort :(. They'll get done sometime (maybe).

Loved some of the things on the Debbie Cripps site FOS but I didn't dare hang around for too long as there are no spares pennies atm.

Managed a few stitches early this morning, realised I'm running short of one of the colours then forgot to write the number of it down when I went shopping this afternoon . Am at the dentist in the morning so I will try and remember then.

Decided not to stitch tonight as I quite like watching Exit List and Biggest Loser.

    Stay warm everyone.

b_e_g it's freezing here! Am wrapped up in so many jumpers I must look like a giant cushion :rotfl:

lancs_lady - how about magnets or bookmarks made from your daughter's crosstitch?

Flat Eric - I'm another that starts in the centre and works out. I tend to leave all the backstitch to the end, but thats just me!

Loving everyone's updates, you've all inspired me :D

Here is Ickle Ted number 2 (thanks again Louise! :) ) I stitched him on sparkly 16 ct aida. I usually prefer evenweave, especially with this many tiny fractional stitches, but it wasn't so bad. :o I pretty much followed the backstitch pattern exactly though, I wouldn't trust myself to make it up.

He took me 3 evenings, not bad for me!

Next on my list is Santa's List. My stitchy bug is in full swing, I can't wait to start it tomorrow!

    Hugs to all x

Loads of great progress pics :)
Ailsb I've never done blackwork, so it's interesting to see your progress.
Soulie it looks like you're trying to give Louise a run for her money in the speedy stitching stakes!!
    Yours is sooo cute sk00bie1.

Hope you're feeling ok Benny , and PP hope you get off those crutches soon. I'm not surprised you don't want to go out, I'm finding the pavements are really treacherous now its getting icy. My daughter slipped over on the way to school this morning.

Personally I love the Tatty Ted designs, but then after the all the backstitch I had to do on my cut thru kits I'm never fazed by it any more. I actually quite enjoy backstitch (and a year ago I didn't believe I'd ever say that!) as long as I leave it all until the end as I really like seeing it bring the piece alive.

I've done no stitching at all since the weekend, and it's kids swimming lessons and parents evening later, so I don't think I'll get any done tonight. I'm hoping the weather stays clear at the weekend so that I can get out and buy the colours that I need to make a start on the Disney Princess design that was kindly nudged to me.
