  • Oh I love that pic FOS... :D

I did a big thing like that, a Margaret Sherry one, from a calendar. Never done a Round Robin though.

Following my earlier post the kits were featured in WOCS Issue 131 (2007) and on page 80 as a competition prize. I managed to find two on ebay that sold for a huge price. Does anyone have these charts or even the kits hidden deep in their stash somewhere? I love Country Companions and WTP too.

    Regards

    Emma

    Hi Emma

Not sure if this is what you had in mind but I have just come across issue 71 of Cross Stitch Card Shop March 2010 which has a small (63 x 48 stitches) design of Ed holding a letter in one hand (?) and holding out the other to a dragonfly. It mentions a range of card sized designs including Big Bouquet and Fishing

Thanks - I have been stitching for LONG time so have have plenty of time to fill up my walls etc

Love your Margaret Sherry. I stitched her "Roast Duck" (duck on a sunlounger) and it's on one my DMC storage boxes - only because the design was the right size. I love the sense of humour in her designs and obviously so do lots of other people as her designs seem to sell very well on auction sites.
  • Yes please Flower of Scotland, thats the one I was waiting for just a year too late he he
  • I just looked through your album - you must have an enormous house to put all of those on the walls!

MS stuff makes good gifts. It's quick, and lots of sections in one colour. Not sure the last time I bought a pattern of hers though, they are always in magazines etc.

I must do some washing, stop distracting me every body ;)

Ah, well, I like the teapcup flowers - the March one, Daffodils is my favourite.

I think I might make it for mum for mother's day :)

Am I missing something with this one? Are there really only five in this set? My friend in Colorado collects teacups, so one of these would be nice for a birthday card for her.
BTW I loved the Snowmen and the doorways too.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone!

flowerofscotland: what a good idea, using the 3d cottage to store sewing stuff in! I hadn't thought of that.

When looking through my kits deciding what to make next I found this one http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Liberty-Patch-Sampler__DMC-BK714.aspx which I hadn't started, I remember I was going to make this for a 3rd birthday when she was learning about the alphabet, but she's 5 now! So if I make it, it will have to be for her 6th birthday. Hopefully it will be OK as a picture and it won't seem too 'babyish' :/

Yes, I just took a look too and they are all stunning.
How many years have you been cross stitching to have completed so many beautiful pieces?
I have the watering can kit in my stash and a different Just Nan sampler pattern and beads too.
Do you frame them yourself or have them done at a store?
Years ago, I invested in a mount cutting mat set and thought I would send my oh on a framing course so that he will be able to frame them for me once I've done them.
I noticed in the stores in the US that they do three things differently to here with their finished pieces.
One is that they use multiple layers of mats - often with cut outs or other items included in them.
Secondly, they put wadding under the finished work so that it pads it out and brings it forward, often beyond the level of the mat.
Thirdly, they rarely put their finished work under glass - though that might be to do with the fact that they have padded it out?

  • Humphrey10 - your first finished UFO is delightful. I love florals and the colours are stunning.

The alphabet sampler is lovely - I've added it to my wish list on that site. I don't think it is at all babyish - rather sophisticated in fact. Looking forward to seeing its progress once you start it
