I didn't manage any stitching yesterday. I was going to start the Newton Bear in bed asleep but then decided to go for a walk. Not sure on cross stitch plans for today. Will have to see what Olympic action is on first....

    Off topic

I've recently discovered the competition thread on this forum. :j Last week, I spent a bit of time clicking on links other posters have kindly posted for free to enter web competitions and I spent a bit of time entering some :j But now I've discovered that there are regular posters who buy puzzle mags and post the answers. I just wondered what people think of this? I bought a few puzzle mags recently and if I wanted, I could skip puzzling them for myself and instead simply look up the answers on the forum? but that would be boring. But I can't decide whether I agree with people posting the answers because that means if you haven't bought the magazine, you can still enter the competitions? I guess its a sign of the times?

When I first started puzzling, there was no world wide web to help me. Indeed my first win was £3.00 for solving the local paper's wordsearch competition. Do any of you puzzle ? and enter competitions? If so, what was your first win and what was your best win? My first win as I mentioned was a £3 postal order. I think my best win was nearly £100 of cross stitch kits from a free prize draw :T:j:T

Back to cross stitch. Cross Stitcher mag arrived on Friday. Will try to post my review later :j

did a little bit of stitching tonight, but hubby sitting there all moody (god knows why) kinda put me on a downer so i put it away. spent the last 2 days turning a little folder (the ones you get in sainsb to put your recipie cards in) into little filofax for a friend for xmas was really pleased with it untill hubby said it looked like it was somthing you would give a kid, so that was a waste of 2 days and now need to find her a new gift :(

    men huh !!!

It's not a present for him! I'd be telling him to take his moody opinion somewhere else. You know your friend, and presumably she'll appreciate the work that went into your gift.

Men! (This is one of the main reasons I don't have one...Oh, and they seem to cost a lot of money...) :rotfl:

    Opinions needed please!!

Is it too late to do some sort of birth sampler for my kiddywinks? My DD is 2 yrs 6 months and my son is 1 yr 1 month. I am still deciding whether to stitch the toy shelf design and the 'Sweet Dreams' bears that were in a recent(ish) 'special' cross stitch magazine. Coincidentally enough, the sample cards made from the designs featured my children's names - spooky!!!

    Emma

IMHO definitely not too late. I still have the little birth sampler I stitched for my DS on display in my bedroom and he is over 30 with children of his own.

Twice this week I've cooked a weight watcher$ meal in my microwave for my lunch and both times I've stuck my finger in to check its cooked with the obvious outcome that I've burnt said finger ! I cooked the meal at lunch and my finger is still hurting now!! I will not do this a third time!

My mission tidy up is going ok although I'm kind of bored of it now. Its therapeutic although I don't think I will be too popular with the recycling man/bin man :rotfl:

I have however found a tigger chart I quite fancy stitching - I wonder if I have the threads ?

Ouch Is this going to interfere with your stitching?
  • Louise I love what you have done with the fairies and can't wait to compare your designs with the ones in the next issues of the magazine I think yours will be nicer. Definitely gold medal material
  • brednal- i think it is never to late, my mum did the sweet dreams one for my youngest when he was born.

Hmmm...I think it depends on the design. How many years is it? If you're putting their wedding dates on for a special anniversay I would say have their names. If it's just a general Happy anniversary then I would put Granny/Granpa
