Hi guys, not read up to date yet but i have a quick question. Does anyone know where to buy a skein of Anchor 403 (black) with free p&p? I thought i would have enough for my mums RM but looks like i'm a little short. I have a small craft shop near me but i can't go till next week, althought i don't know if they even sell anchor.

    Thanks in advance :T

    Hi everyone

My favourite place to stitch is at either end of the sofa. It has nice wide arms where I put threads, scissors and highlighter.

I can't remember exactly when I started stitching. My mum taught me when I was about ten. I remember doing a Xmas sampler from one of her magazines. I also remember stitching a country companions kit a few years later. I have gone for long periods without stitching but I always pick it up again and I now find myself stitching something everyday. I love it, never get bored of it and there is always something on my wish list.

I made £25 today as I sold a cake to someone. I'm thinking of buying one of the dictionary of..... series as they look so fun. I was going to start it as part of the 13 for 2013 challenge.

    Have a good weekend

Why do ebay sellers put 'lots' of cover kits up for sale and then include in their listings wording to the effect of 'no instructions included but can be stitched by copying the front cover picture'?

I'm sure it's not that simple or why bother with charts at all!!!!

Yep that is annoying - I have noticed one magazine (WOXS I think?) now has the chart in with the kit as well as in the magazine. For any others, I tear out the chart straight away and pop it in with the kit before filing it away for later.

Not happy! Ran out of a certain thread colour on my eagle chart that came as the kit and I don't have any in my stash! And I only just placed an order for 150 skeins at across town stitching, plus the kit isn't a DMC one anyways

    Morning all :)

Just a quick question, does anyone use one of those magnetic boards, and if so are they any good?

I was just looking at this one on the Sew and Sew site:-

    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/7-x-10-Magnetic-Board__DMC-M230.aspx

Yes I do and I find them very handy. I have that particular board and I think it is excellent value for money. I've mislaid mine so must hunt it down. They are very handy for stitching "on the move".

Grrr opened a letter from S ky today. My subscription is going up £2.50 a month from next month :( Its about time I made one of *those phone calls* but I'm hopeless at things like that and I'm convinced they would say oh you want to leave, oh ok then, bye bye.... I suppose its the way of the world that customer loyalty doesn't pay and that simply by being a customer for near on 5 1/2 years means nothing.....

Second GRRR ... I'm so tired this evening. :( Its been my first week back at work this week after my hols and despite it being the weekend, I feel really fed up. I'm dreading Monday already as I have lots of work waiting for me. I'm also tempted to go in tomorrow and do some but I don't have the energy and I'm meeting my friend. My holiday seems like a distant memory. :( I wish I could hit the rewind button, find the sun and then press pause :)

On a happier note, I think I've found the perfect malibu/coke balance and I'm enjoying one right now :D

I have been stitching since January 1998 (over 14 years now!). The first Cross Stitching mag I bought was this one This had a free kitten kit with it. I'm guessing this mag came out in the December of 1997 ! I don't think I ever finished the kit but have bought the kit again since on eb*y and think I have it somewhere, about 80% finished! I am terrible for starting things and not finishing them!

I'm not sure what got me hooked on cross stitching. At the time, someone I knew was cross stitching and I remember going round her house so she could show me how it was done! Then there was my friend who was stitching on the bus and I asked her what she was up to. We are still firm friends and both still into cross stitching. I can't quite remember if we just got chatting anyway as I saw her on the bus everyday (or if her stitching was the sole reason I felt confident to strike up a conversation).

My favourite place to stitch as mad as it sounds is probably the bus. That sounds crazy I know, but its the only time with a commute time of up to an hour and a half (each way) that I have time to myself. My best endeavours to sit on the sofa at the weekend with my stitching often go awry and I'm usually too tired in the evenings. If I'm stitching at home my favourite place is on the sofa.

Now I'm going to have a think about my favourite stitchy gadgets!

But before I do, I can place 1998 as the year I properly got into cross stitching because I remember going into town with my then boyfriend (now my fiance), we went into a stitchy shop (sadly no longer there) and I showed my boyfriend the Country Companions Cricket design that he liked (its the hedgehog holding a cricket bag behind his head and the text at the bottom reads (space for age) and not out). Before buying it, I checked it was the correct kit. Little did he know, I had already been into the shop and sussed out the kit (the shop assistant was in on it). We bought said kit then we went to the cinema and watched Lethal Weapon 4 and Something about Mary with a spot of lunch in between. (can't remember where we went for lunch!:rotfl:). At the time, my new job was proving stressful and my lovely boyfriend/fiance treated me to help cheer me up. He still is as lovely and thoughtful all these years later. Sadly on the kit front, this was the one I was talking about the other day and made a right mess of so I intend to start it again sometime soon!
