Been in town shopping today. Popped in N*xt for a quick look thinking I would no sooner walk in than walk out again but ended up browsing for ages and ended up getting a new winter coat (£25), trousers for work (£14), two tops (£10 each) and 3 pairs of socks (£3 each). Also picked up some jeans but they were not in the sale so left them for another day. Was pleasantly surprised at how well organised it was (queueing to pay) Super happy with my coat. Just hope the other things I bought fit.

Was hard to find stuff but wasn't so busy you couldn't have a proper rummage. Don't think I could do a 5am start though.

I'm stitching this at the moment. I bought this with some of my birthday money. I've stitched the border so far (in a vareigated thread rather than the brown they have used and I've stitched some of the black and dark grey in the bottom right corner. Its on 16 count and I've now noticed the 3/4 stitches  so I hope I get on ok with them.

I'm not sure I will do any this evening and undecided on my plans for tomorrow yet. Plus I might start the bears that were in Cross Stitch Collection :T Spotted the mag that is being advertised in Cross Stitcher but it costs £9.99 not £7.99 as I thought and since its mainly a rehash of charts that have featured in Cross Stitcher previously, I couldn't put it back on the shelf quick enough!

Chicky - PP looks great. I'm sure neice will love it.

FOS - angel is coming along nicely. I bet it looks nice and twinkly in real life.

sweetcarer - hope you enjoy your trip. Anniversary pic is lovely.

Favourite place to stitch - I have claimed the two seater sofa (DH and DS have to share the 3 seater) I like to spread my stuff out at the side of me. Arm on sofa is quite wide, flat and firm so acts as a little table. I have a magazine rack down at the side which stores current stitchy stuff/ latest mags etc and I have a little table to for the cupppa/wine.

When I started xstitching - probably late teens/early 20s I think. I had mentioned to DH that I fancied doing some embroidery and he bought me a lovely kit (longstitch and all sorts of other stuff) but not really intended for the beginner who was totally clueless. However I started it, put it away got it back out again did a bit more and eventually got it done and was quite pleased with it. But I didn't actually enjoy doing it and it was after that that I gave xstitch a go and like it. I did have quite a long break from it but it seems to have stuck with me this time. Have still got first embroidery pic dumped in cupboard somewhere (cant get rid of it after all the blood sweat and tears) and will post a pic when I come across it.

Finished Art Deco Mini - will press and pic them later. Have already had iron out this morning and forgot to do them.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone - make sure its a stitchy one. OOOOh Sleeping Beauty is due to arrive this week coming (fingers crossed).

Thank you, going to email them now :)

Hi - I've had the same trouble with my Dimensions Christmas stocking kit. I've had to email them twice due to running out of threads and I think they are based in America or Canada so the threads take weeks to arrive. Usually you seem to get loads spare with other kits but with this one you have to be so careful you don't make any mistakes. Its a lovely kit but I would think twice before buying another one. Sorry everyone - moan over!

I am a fan of sudoku if it's online or on my DS, purely because it tells me if I have made a mistake :D
My Dad does Sudoku properly, in a book/mag but I'm not that good, I need to be told my mistakes immediately.

Not started my new kit yet, will possibly do so later when we get back from shopping.
Saw a lovely kit on ebay yesterday but it went for nearly as much as it costs brand new so I left the other bidders to it :)

Favourite place to stitch - i only have one place in the middle of my 3 seater sofa with the light directly above me. I stitch when my OH is asleep so put a film on and spread all my stuff out :)

When i started cross stitching - It was in the late 90's i had a lovely craft shop where i lived and i bought the CC kit posted earlier. I then bought a few mags and did some charts out of them, my fav being a fireside cat i did for my mum as i changed the cat to look like ours that had passed away. I don't have a photo but will get one when i go home in a couple of weeks. Then i stopped stitching as games consoles and computers were much more fun :rotfl: I found the cafe a few years ago and bought my African Lions kit, i haven't stopped since, really happy to be back stitching its very relaxing :)

mrs-moneypenny, was your xstitching well recieved at the wedding? and by your brother?

Shelly, love your next project, i have a few similar charts of them and think they are great.

I like Kakuro. Will do Sudoko if nothing else around e.g. on train journey but not a great fan. I also like crosswords but I would rather stitch or read than do any of these. What I can't bear is doing nothing
  • Soulie - how annoying to run out of thread - that's the main reason for buying kits. You're not the first person I have known complain about Dimensions kits and because they don't use Anchor or DMC it's not easy to rectify quickly. Are you going to swap to doing a different piece while you wait for more thread?

Louise - hope you rekindle your stitching mojo soon. If you've lost interest in Earth from Space are there any other UFOs that appeal more? And I thought you were starting Sleeping Beauty from Cross Stitch Gold soon?

Chicky - PP is amazing - your niece will be thrilled. What colour/size/count of sparkly aida do you need for IF? I may have something suitable and I rarely use aida now

Shelly - your new project is really cute

Sweetcarer - what a lovely comment from your DH

I have loved reading all the posts about our favourite places to stitch and how we started stitching

I've resisted the temptation to go back to the shops today. Probably a good thing. If I'd started my bus pass today instead of tomorrow then I probably would have gone! but I've bought enough clothes recently so I don't really need anymore!

Instead I've spent the morning doing washing and other boring bits and pieces - updating my money spreadsheet etc.

I will probably do a bit of stitching this afternoon. I'm fighting the sunday eve blues already! so hopefully a bit of stitching will make me feel better.
