Also the pilot frixion pens are refillable!

They're fab, esp for revison, notetaking etc, especially as dyslexic :) make life much easier!
  • I can't really remember a time when I didn't do something crafty, usually with needles involved - my mum taught me to sew and my grandma taught me to knit. However neither of them taught me to cross stitch and I can't remember how I started. I know I did needlepoint (tapestry with wool) before moving on to cross stitch. But I was never really keen until 1991 when I bought a copy of Needlecraft which was the original Future Publishing magazine (before Cross Stitcher and long before World of Cross Stitching etc). It was edited by a husband and wife team called I think Martin and Susan Penny and included different types of needlework although cross stitch was the most prevalent. I think it was about issue 5 I bought and I then tracked down all the back issues from the first one (and I still have them all ). I loved the magazine and read it over and over - not just the articles and projects but all the ads as well (online shopping being very rare in those days). I can remember sending off for lots of catalogues and spending ages going though them all dreaming of what I would like to stitch (so only the medium has changed - I now do this online).
I got bitten by the stitchy bug and have never looked back. My Flickr account has reached the limit of 200 photos and it doesn't include everything I have stitched since then.
For years I resisted the temptation to get involved with patchwork and quilting but was persuaded by a friend so my house is full of all kinds of stitching stash and I have to live to at least 400 to complete everything I want to do :D
However looking back I would say that one of the main things I love about stitching is the lovely people that share my passion :A

Thanks - I didn't realise these existed - will look out for them. Although I usually photocopy charts or magazine pages and mark the copy. I often enlarge the copy which makes it easier to read and it keeps the chart or magazine pristine in case I want to sell it afterwards.

    Favourite Place To Stitch

I have 'my' sofa - a two seater one opposite the tv, with a coffee table iin front and a lamp behind (uplighter with a second directional arm)

My second stitchy place is in bed - hubby says he can't sleep properly if I'm not there (the big wuss lol) so when he heads up I will sometimes take some stitching and watch a DVD with the earphones in :)

    How I started

When I was about 14 or 15 my mum bought me a cross stitch kit for christmas. It was two forever friends bears on a swing with a big heart of flowers over the top. Looking back it was a bit OTT for a beginner but that was me. I think I made it into a cushion but I have no idea what happened to it.

    :A

    2 solutions to that :

    1) create another free account - but you'll need a different (free) yahoo email account, which can be a pain to remember the details for

    2) make yourself a Group on Flickr (see the help pages for how to do it). Then you put your older photos in the group so you can still see them, and the newer photos will show up in your normal photo stream. Incidentally, you can have as many photos as you want on your free Flickr account, it's just that only the most recently uploaded 200 shots show up.

For anyone interested here's my google results for the Pilot frixion erasable highlighters.

Best price I can find for 1 is if you go instore to the following shops.....
Staples are cheapest at £1.39 each if you buy 1-3 pens or £1.09 each for 4 or more.
At Rymans they are £1.79 each.
Adding delivery charge to these makes it cheaper to buy elsewhere online.

Cheapest on ebay is £2.23 each or a 2pk for £3.99 or a 3 pk for £4.99. Obviously best deal here is the 3 pk.

Best deal on Amazon is a pk of 3 for £4.98 delivered.

I think I'll stick to my pencil for now and buy 4 for £4.36 when next near Staples.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
