I guess I am guilty of not posting often as I would like. I miss this place. I have been so very busy with work. Trying to get some sewing done in the evening. Catching up with family of FB. I am sorry girls.

Well they say buses come in twos and threes. Well, I have finished my little boy blue and also I did a quickie birth sampler - started it 1pm saturday morning took a break between 5-8 on Saturday night (to eat and do shopping). Then worked on it till 4am, then finished it Sunday night.

I will post pictures soon. Hubby is away with camera. Still no job.

Keep well, might not post often but watch you all from afar and cheer you on all the way.

    Kind wishes

    sweetcarer ;)

Just catching up - haven't been on for a couple of days so probably will post more than once.

Skoobie - love the finished Dear Santa.

Mag-cats - I'd love to have the full set of DMC threads, although I'm probably not too far off having them all but purchased over many years.

FlowersofScotland - I purchased from that site many years ago and they were good to deal with.

Off to read pages 118 and 119 now, you have been busy!

Mags Cat, I bought a full set of dmc threads from Leisurecraft about 15 years ago and they are still going strong. I just replace any that run out so I have a full set.

Did a fair amount of my David Bowie/Labyrinth kit last week as I had a couple of days off work. I've been busy spring cleaning so stitching was my reward! Unfortunately I bought another David Bowie chart from ebay for £1.00 This one is Aladin Sane so a bit more colourful, found the perfect frame at the car booty yesterday (also £1) so a pretty cheap buy.

Can't post any pictures yet as still classed as a newbie under my new username (used to be bikerchick1066) but will try and post more often so that I can.

Must go to sleep now as working 7-5 again tomorrow. Night night!

Chicky - sorry read your post, I hope you feel better having voiced your concerns. I know that you have always been a support for me in the past both on the forum and by pm and I'm sorry if I have added to your upset.

Off to do a bit of my dragon toasting marshamallows - I'm so very bored of it, its turned into a chore to keep stitching it. Keep thinking about starting something else but feel guiltly that I have so many unfinished projects.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks chicky for sharing your worries. I know I've not been around much at all this year, but from reading over can see why your aggrieved.
I guess the problem is that the 'request and run' people wont see your post... But it is good of you to remind everyone of the Rules of MSE = No sharing of personal information, you arent even suposed to become pen palls, let alone anything else.
I personally have no issue with passing on charts I'm done with, or will never use, its not great by copyright laws but I see no difference in sending one to my friends than taking it to a charity shop.

We are tucked away in this cafe, I think the rest of MSE is sometimes forgotten. For eg, A couple of years ago in MSE Sewing Room we asked the mods if we could do a supplies swap, and the answer was NO because we'd be sharing names/addresses... we ended up doing it via Kandipandi's blog. Yes last year we were given official permission for the quilt team, but that was a one off I guess.

In some ways we are 'lucky' that none of the MSE Moderators do Cross Stitch, if they did then the 'please keep a copy safe for me' would have ended as soon as it had started...

So perhaps the real problem is that 'request & run' people wont see your message, and we can't make people be friendly and say thank you, so we will just have to welcome all. We need to welcome newbies and offer help, I first came in looking for advice on a little cover kit.
    - perhaps it's an idea to put a rules reminder in the First post, if there isnt one there already? ( that way at least the members can't be blamed for not stating it clearly).

Of course to newbies it may look like I'm jumping straight it, full weight, all opinionated, not realizing i've been posting in the cafe for 2 years!! Not that means I have any more right to say than someone who joined last week of course!
Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!

Sorry to hear you're a bit upset chicky...hope you feel better after airing your feelings.

Great news folks...I have decided to take some cross-stitching with me on my hols when I leave on Wednesday!! Sorry Loiuse, only taking a couple of small pieces, so not taking Elegant Lady nor The Astronomer. I am hoping doing these little pieces will bring back my stitching mojo so I can get some work done on my major UFOs when I get back...at least that is the plan! :D

Need to get to bed now...shattered. Need to look out all the threads I need tomorrow, ooh getting excited now!!

    Hi everyone

Sorry forgot who asked about Venus threads - I've never even heard of them, so can't help I'm afraid.

Chicky - I've been AWOL too for a couple of weeks but I've been struggling with MSE speed or rather lack of it and get frustrated when it takes so long to turn a page!

Lancs Lady - I have that summer angel on the you know where auction site ending on Sunday.

In fact I have loads of brand new charts on this week if anyone is interested. Wasn't sure if it was too early for Christmas ones so thought I'd just test the water with a few plus the L&L, Mill Hill and a few others.

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried a frame called grip n stitch. If so please can you answer my concerns below.
I didn't get my lapframe at the NEC and a friend said she would dig her frame out for me which turned out to be the above.
I am very loathe to try it as it has "teeth" to grip the fabric and I'm convinced that it will be difficult to get taut and that it will make holes in the fabric.

Meantime, still no stitching done as I'd held off thinking this frame would enable me to get started again and of course meantime, I've spent the money on odds and ends, so will have to wait for my birthday now and that's months away.

I'm going to try and catch up on the posts I've missed but I don't know if it's my netbook or whether the site is generally running very slowly.

I have used Venus threads, I don't know much about xstitch but they were given to me by my SIL who said they'll be ok for me as a beginner but they're awful to sew with.

I have tried them as I messed up my tigger and I kept getting knotted up, don't know whether it was me or the thread

    Louise - hope your ok

    I love that christmas sampler

sorry I don't know all your names yet but I'm trying to keep up.

I have bought a couple of kits but as of yet haven't took the plunge and started sewing them. I'm still feel as if I should practice

Chicky, i agree about some of the newbies and have probably been guilty of helping them. I guess we just have to use our own judgement and be more careful, nice to be reminded though :)

Jamsponge, 70 pages  I thought Dreams of Atlantis was alot at 29, lol.

catwoman150, i bought a few skeins of venus threads to do some christmas cards and they seemed to fray more than the anchor ones did. TBH with the special offers on DMC/Anchor at acrosstownstitching i don't see the point in buying cheap threads now.
