mum2one, about seven years ago my grandmother came to visit me (I was still living in Dublin). We went on a tour in an amphibious vehicle and you climb into the seats up a ladder on one side. She was already pushing 90 and struggled, so one guy shoved from behind her while two held her hands and pushed her up. They gave her a plastic Viking helmet to wear because she was such a trooper.
I have had the talk with my mum about Christmas gifts for my daughter. We wanted to get her a couple of 3yo-appropriate board games but couldn't find anywhere except Toys R Us. They have a Toys R Us fifteen minutes from their house. Sorted
I also realise that there are lovely new pajamas for Christmas Eve for the little one, a Christmas T shirt to go with fleece bottoms* for the biggest one and nothing at all for me. I think I'll just tart up existing ones for me, though - I have loads of jammies and really don't need any more.
*Seriously considering buying Christmas Story Ralphie fleece pajama bottoms for my husband. Seriously considering.
Edit: I just bought my last gift! Free with Amazon vouchers from various sources and it was the big one. It's a banjo for my husband.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hi everyone, I`m back ...just been down to Moreton In MArsh for a couple of weeks. Weather was hit and miss but did enjoy it.
Seemed to spend some time in pubs though. Found the coffee shops expensive for what you get. Over £20 for a coffee and light bite for 2 , so went in the pubs instead where you could have fish, chips and sides for 2 for £15 and free drinks. Or steak...I`m not tight but those coffee shops are EXPENSIVE
Im into christmas mode now. Twins birthday this week so thats them out the way then....full steam ahead....
Mum2one - thats aweful videoing you. We had an incident on the site we were on ...and my friend and i had a bit of a falling out about it.
kids, I say kids, teenagers....were videoing a man and my mate thought it was funny....but my argument was if the bloke had been videoing the teens it would have been so different and the parents would have phoned the police.
Oh darn it , my washing machine has just died a death. Best have a look for another. That ale=ways happens when I `m a bit skint....Challenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Sugarspun we came for a holibag to dublin when the children were smaller and went on the duck. We all wore our viking helmets and i seem to remember we did a lot of shouting and waving our arms :TMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Had a gd day weather stayed dry, and little step up, Miss Hoodie enjoyed it, and the pub afterwards, cheaper than eating at NT. Bailey enjoyed it, he had a 10oz gammon steak for his dinner (2 for £10 pub, 3 of us was £18, so ordered 4 meals and had £5 voucher!), he thought all his christmas's had come at once.
Susan - sorry about washing machine they always go at the wrong time! have you tried Argos. Happy Birthday to the twins. Moreton in Marsh sounds lovely, def agree re coffee shops there pricing themselves out of the market.
Quiet day, off for ice-cream day 2mor! sod the calories, then Miss Hoodie back to school Monday.

Went to the carboot at the school today, it was lovely!!! Miss Hoodie sold her old boke for £5, she was really happy, some of the parents wouldn't speak to dad since all the touble, he smiled (v pround of him) espically when the woman collecting the money was the one who caused all the hassle, (I was at the loo), she asked him for the money, he piped up, yes no probs pay £5, DD be back in a minute do you want to wait, as shes still waiting for £40 from Xmas for stamps that she used... (I was secetary of PTA, when we wrote for donations I'd use my stamps and have ious for carboots). I wish been a fly on the wall!!
Miss Hoodie a little bargain hunter, shes brought a brand new sewing machine, small size simple stitch, battery operated but has foot pedal, she bartered down from £5 to £2 (shes my girl!!).
We made a poor £20, but talking to other stall holders, some hadn't even covered their table, one woman said she made £40 which was poor by her standards. but its £20 for lapland fund. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
