    happy st georges day

sorry been busy, my gran passed away so trying to keep mums spirits up, then with kids off over easter, and giving mil a bit of extra help with gardening etc (im round in a bit to help with some paperwork) failed on 2 recent brthdays old school friend who usually gets a knitted or stitche item got a cheque, and good friend ended up with flowers as i couldnt think what to do in the time i had. neither were particularly MSE so need to get more organised.
i am working on a crossstitch for my aunt when she oves into her new house, and knitting for one of my nieces.

    hope all are well

    Hello all :j

moneypenny -so sorry to hear about your gran. Never an easy time but you seem busy enough to keep yourself going as well as keeping mums spirits up

Well I had a day of bad news yesterday. Chap who does the garden for us rang. His dad was rushed into hospital with a burst anurism. He'd been waiting 2 weeks for boffins to decide whether to operate or not. Well, they had to yesterday but he's 90 so its still touch and go at the minute. Gardener had won some money on the lottery as well but his dad being taken ill like that put the damper on it somewhat.
Then we heard that a friend of ours who runs a b & b has a lymphnode on her liver and is having chemotherapy. She's 40 and on her own with two children since her husband died a few years back. I'd had a bit of a depressing day about mine and OH's health but now realise how lucky we both are really.

Garden ''work in progress'' has been shelved due to all this so OH decided he'd have a go and do little bits here and there today. In the end we both ended up going out and doing a bit of weeding with the help of my Dads long handled tools. OH bought a load of sweet peas from the co-op so we've yet more plants being hardened off till they're ready to go outside.

I got my water colours out and had a go at doing a geranium............not too bad......not too good either............must try harder as they say. Found my art work eventually after much searching from my art class. Must get it organised so its easy to get at.

So, thats me for the last two days..........I'm promising myself I'm doing nothing tomorrow.........think my back will tell me that.

    Hope you're all ok:)

Oh dear, its been a few days of bad news hasnt it. Sorry to hear about it all. I am going to see my friend tomorrow if she is able to get over to my town, so hopefully it will be nice for her to have someone to talk to.

We had a bit of good news yesterday, we had to take my Dad to the hospital as he had been having symptoms of bowel cancer and the GP was worried his prostrate cancer might have spread but the bloke we saw said he doesnt think its anything serious and commented on how fit my Dad was for a man of 87. Cheered him up bless him, he had been so worried for days about it. He still has to have an xray of his colon in a week or so to check for definite but we have our fingers crossed for that.

I have been busy sewing, made some more clothes. I havent been able to get any photos done yet but will soon.

I finished off the back pack for my SIL, will take a pic of that too.

rufusdog really pleased to hear that your dad got some good news and i hope the xray gives you all confirmation and peace of mind.

mary-op so sorry to hear the sad news about your friend and your gardeners dad i have everything crossed that he recovers well and is soon comfortable. i hope your friend gets the treatment she needs quickly and makes a full recovery. seems to be so much illness and sadness about at the moment. i hope the waterclour helps you relax and get a bit of calmness back in your life.

taking my cross stitchout with me tonight so i can stitch and watch the boys martial arts class.

mum2one sounds nice colours you are doing the knitting and crocheting in, as you say nice and organised to have something in hand for when its needed.

    Hello all :j

susan - so sorry to hear about your friend mum -how awful for for her.

rufus - good news for your Dad

Seems to be such a lot of bad news flying about lately it makes a change to hear something positive.

Back ached this morning after yesterdays bit of 'horticulture'. Now trying to find out if it'll be ok for OH's numerous sweet peas to be planted straight in the garden bearing in mind the cold May we're told we're getting. I've put a query on Greenfingers board about it. Don't want to lose them.

Back to the painting this afternoon after the cleaner had been. Its very relaxing and looking at some of the stuff I did at classes it seems a shame its stuffed in a folder so I think I need a few frames and dot a some of them round the house. I did frame a few I'd done at home so no reason why the rest shouldn't be displayed.......lol They're not brilliant but will put a bit of colour on a bare wall.

Thinking of doing a xmas eve box for foster daughters baby ..........reminded me when I found a brown flannel in the drawer unused.......ideal for a rudolph.

Hope you're all ok and hugs to those who need them :)

I'm mainly a lurker on here but have a request. I remember reading somewhere on the forum that someone had a spreadsheet to organise Christmas presents. I've looked and look back but can't find it:(
I was just hoping that one of you lovelies has it or at least may know where I could find it. I hope you don't mind me butting in :) Trying to get organised this year and will definitely need some help. Thank you in anticipation. X
