I got a question. I bought a week ago a laptop at Argos, price today was reduced by £50. Can I ask them them to give me the difference back? the reason I ask is because I opened the laptop and used it so I can't return it for a full refund.0

In short, no, they're under no obligation to refund anything. As far as any consumer rights are concerned, you were happy to pay the price you paid at the time of purchase. Anything else is based purely on the goodwill of Argos but, as they exempt opened items from their returns policy, it is unlikely.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I bought a camera from Argos in the clearance section a week ago for £99. Today, it's in the "sale" at £129.99, showing a price reduction of £30 from RRP. Sneaky.0

Used to work for Halfords and their sales are the same. Products prices are raised before the sale and the dropped back to the normal price for the sale. So long as they have been at a higher price for X weeks before the sale they can do what they like. We also have a local furniture company who I'd checked the price of a piece of furniture sometime before the sale and then went in for the sale and it was the same price. When I pointed it out to them they got really huffy. Also same company on another occasion asked to buy a piece of furniture the week before the sale as pointed out that it wouldn't be any cheaper in the sale and more likely more expensive and they refused terminated my phone call. Glad they can afford to lose £700.00 sales. Another company got our purchase instead and we don't shop with them anymore. If you're not behind our soldiers.....please feel free to stand in front of them!0

Incidentally, I know of one shop which truely does have a proper sale and that's in my home town of Newbury, Berkshire. Its family run and been there for years. If you're not behind our soldiers.....please feel free to stand in front of them!0

Comet were advertising a washing machine yesterday as being £250 IIRC off and the higher price had only been charged between 17/12/11 till 24/12/11 according to the small print. Clearly they had upped the price just for a week, absolutely disgraceful.
Someone once told me that DFS etc, can put a sofa out of the way in one of their shops at a ridiculously high price. Then after a week or so, they are able to sell the same sofa in all their shops at a claim reduced/sale price.0
