Many products in Currys sale have not been reduced in price today despite showing a saving.
They use prices charged over 8 months ago
An example is the LG RHT497H DVD recorder, it shows a saving from a price charged between 24/03/11 and 20/04/11.
Pathetic, why don't they genuinely reduce their stock?
Can anybody find a saving on an older price?

I thought that legally they could only claim that the price was discounted against a higher price that they had to have charged for at least 30 days in the previous 6 months (or something like that)?0

In the same way, a lot of these electrical / computer stores are showing 'savings' on the much-inflated prices of external hard drives - when the prices were previously hiked by 100% or more recently due to the floods in Thailand. But they are still much higher now than they were 2 months ago ...0

I used to work in ____and they did the same but it is something they do everywhere. Whenever you scan a product you can see its previous price history, and more often than not the price is hiked by 50% or something silly like that for a couple of months before being discounted.
I think a lot of these shops like Currys and Comet are more deceptive, because laptops/pc's are already quite complicated and it's hard to know what is a good offer unless you know a little about them, so it is easy to confuse or mislead a shopper.0 -
They say it was cheaper at a store in nowwheresville thats all they have to dofeed_me_chocs wrote: »I thought that legally they could only claim that the price was discounted against a higher price that they had to have charged for at least 30 days in the previous 6 months (or something like that)?0

Worked for Comet many years ago and one year they had their January sale (started Boxing Day) and advertised every single item instore reduced. Around 90% of it was by 1p. Can you imagine how the staff felt spending Xmas Eve after store closing changing every single price ticket. Bunch of !!! holes0
