Payday update! Sorry I haven't been able to update for long but I've been away. I hope there are still people reading this!
First of all, the good news: Friday, Sat, Sun and Mon - all NSDs. I can't believe it, how great! And I DID spend money but it was my dad's - he give me some funds for thwe holiday - all kinds of nice food, clothes, gifts and I have spent zero of my money. (I spent £35 on presents though, on Thurs). Ih well, they all were great value, that’s presents for 7 people!!!
And I also got a tenner from someone who owed me that, it will last me three days if not more.
Bad news: today I will have to go out with colleagues for lunch and I cant even choose to only have a salad because we always split the bill - its £16 ish usually. Oh well. Lets just hope its not more than £20.
Budget news: I am well within my budget, even with the treatments.
Treatments: I will need another two in april. This is quite bad news as it will be £170 but I think I can budget it out without having to touch the credit cards. Wish me luck!
So payday: I have been paid yesterday and I have distributed the monies to my accounts today. Unfortunately I HAD to pay £780 to my amex if I didn’t want to incur interest, so I did that - new amex balance is £300. ( I know, I know - I have overspent last month.) Goal: to keep it below 600 by the 26th of April (incl treatments) and to keep it below £700 by the 10th of May (not easy!!!!! But will be ok if I wont have to do treatments in this period, otherwise to keep it below £800).
HSBC credit card: I made a payment of £140. I am slightly dissappointed, I would have wanted to pay more than this but I just did not have the money. However, I am thinking about transferring £400 of my balance to the M&S card, once this payment and the M&S payment clears. The interest rate on that one is about a quarter of that of the HSBC card. Current balane on the card is £858.16 - this includes a rough calculation of interest (£20) which, funnily enough, ahs not been debited to my account yet, even though I am past my statement date…). I will, however, be charged another £20 in interest before my next payday so I have to calculate that in as well.
M&S credit card: I made a small payment of £65. This is dissappointing too. But bearing in mind that this payment is totally servicing my debt (less the £8 interest) and that its twice the minimum payment, its not a bad result. And I have now set up online banking on this card so I can follow my balance every day. The card is still a no-touch card (as is the hsbc one). (I have to say, I DID take the hsbc card to my holiday, on a just-in-case basis, and I didn’t touch it…)
I have also transferred £45 to my savings account, current balance: £45. Just in case. I do need this security. Current account balance is £20 but this will be withdrawn for working lunches and put on my work plastic - this should be enough for work lunches until the 10th of May.
So my current debt at this point is….
£2189.70.
(this will increase during the course of the month as I will be spending on my amex of course)
My goal is (I have a habit of revising my goals because I dotn like to fail but since I write this down and you all see it, I wont be able to change…)
So, goals:
1.) Keep amex balance below £600 by the 26th of the Month (statement date - this will effect my next payday amex payment. The less, the better)
2.) Keep my amex balance below £700/£800 (see above) by next payday (10th of May)
3.) Keep the ttal debt balance below £2600 by the 1st of May
4.) Keep the total debt balance below £2800 by the 10th of May (inlc treatments)
5.) Transfer at least £400 balance from HSBC to M&S card.
6.) Do not spend any money on the HSBC card
7.) Do not spend any money on the M&S card
8.) Do not touch my savins only if I decide to pay it into the HSBC or M&S cards (amex doesn’t count because then I would spend it)
9.) Do not go overdrawn on Natwest account
10.) Earn at least £60 in some way until the 10th of May. (no idea how, nothing to ebay, but that’s a challenge then…)
So that’s it!!! I will copy this in a month's time and see where I have failed and where I have succeeded.Total debt £3625.07.

It looks like you aren't snowballing your debts? Any reason for that?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
