OK, we are at breaking point. Fifi is in tears.

We turned up at our home to find it in darkness which we expected and we knocked on the adjoining neighbour and Delia answered. She was in shock about her nightbour. We asked if her neighbours son was there and she asked us why would he be there?

She then said we will find him round the back.

So we trudged down the access road/deathtrap as there is a little country track which runs to the bottom of the garden and we came across a mobile home sat at the bottom of our garden. When we first went to view the house, the backgarden (100ft) had a chicken wire fence 2/3rds of the way down it where there was a greenhouse and a vegetable plot. Fifi had plans for a hot tub and a wooden gazeebo, Now the greenhouse is gone and a mobile home plonked on there.

We knocked on the door and asked why he was living here and it emerged that the plot of land was divided last month and the bottom bit given to her son as he was living with her so he could stay on (as she was going into sheltered accom). I told him we have purchased the whole garden and he had the cheek to ask us why we thought that when there was a chicken fence half way down. Anyway, it ended up in a bit of an argument and Delia decided to chip in.

So Fifi and my Dad are in the garage sorting through the boxes trying to find the original land registry plans we accepted and sent back to the conveyancer but this is an absolute nightmare. I am hoping we havent misread them as we wanted to also put the car down the bottom.

Surely planning permission is needed for a Mobile home? Delia thinks so as she is up in arms, especially as he is keeping a pig on the site (looking after it for someone he said) although the pig was asleep and quiet.

Anyway, surely the EA should have told us what we saw isnt what we were getting?

I am hoping now she did die before completion to wrange out of this.

Anyway, I need to help move stuff round the garage as I need a beer.

  • Let's hope the toilet in the mobile home doesn't break down. Mind you, you could always swap him the pig if you let him use yours;-)

See if they will take the dog as a sweetener for the deal,
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Officially in a clique of idiots
  • When they get a chance to look round maybe they will find an overfilled soakaway and cess pit, and have to rescue the little dog from drowning... :D
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
