Morning everyone,
Feel really festive this morning, we have a party at our house from 5pm today and I have to get ready for it. Loads of people usually come with all their children (up to 18 years old!) but we make sure that they have all gone home by 8 30 pm.
DD1 and DD2 are playing violin and clarinet in the band for the children's' nativity at church and I am hoping to go to see that this afternoon as well.
Need to get OH up soon so he can go and get the turkey, I have got everything else.
Happy Christmas everyone and hugs to all in need.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Not been on here since Wednesday, been so busy helping DD2 by having DGD's 2 & 3 and getting everything done before our family gathering today. Y/day I cooked a huge joint of beef and boiled a gammon in coke and did a black treacle, mustard and demerera sugar mix to go on the top that I scored in triangles and studded with cloves then roasted. DH tried a bit and said it was the best he had tasted. I par cooked the cauli & broc, made the cheese sauce and did breadcrumb and cheese mix to top the cauli / broc bake. We have DD's their OH's and 3 DGC here for the day. Lunch is salmon with hm dill butter & lemon for the veggies and the meat I cooked y/day for non vegies to go with the bake and new pots. Pud is a choc log I made and froze, and cream. Mince pies made this morning, just need a dusting of icing sugar when they cool.
The house is spotless and I've put clean sheets on the bed and made DH an omlette for his breckie. Family will be here about 10.30, can't wait.
DAZI, Sounds like your DDad had a good send off.
UOLYPOOL Well done to your Niece and you, 2 STONE WOW !!!
JACKIEO Your making me dizzy, Have a great time with your loved ones.
MOORHEN Great news about the baby home for Xmas. :T
HESTER, Had to laugh at your phone mix up, it was the way you told it. Glad it's sorted now. :rotfl:
BRAMBLE, Hope you had a safe trip.
TRU. You must have the patience of a saint, your DH did make me giggle. :rotfl:
JULIEG, Bet your counting the hours now, hope your feeling better today. Take it easy eh !0 -
Heard from my friend this morning, her baby is now at home and all is well.
What a wonderful christmas present.:D0 -
Morning all,
Got up this morning, turned the xmas tree lights on and all the electrics downstairs blew and went off , had to go and get OH up to fix it, I really wanted to leave him in bed for a while as he was a right grump yesterday
any hoo he is off to the shops in a while for more lights, I cannot have Xmas day with no tree lights
Tru that story of your OH made me laugh so much :rotfl:it was like one of those American xmas films where there is a mad dash to get the last turkey etc, :Dgot to love these men who think they know best :rotfl:
So yesterday I had a nice day cooking, I made the cauli / broccoli cheese for the veggies, a chestnut and chocolate 'cake' (which might turn into a mousse as I am not sure its set) a white chocolate and double cream cheesecake, a lemon tart, a litre of baileys and cooked the gammon
Today I have to preare the veg and spuds, clean the conservatory and study, move the table from said study into conservatory, and lay tables ready for tomorrow, oh and have a general whip round everywhere else, I shall be delegating
I hope everyone has an enjoyable day and no one gets too stressed,
Oh and a Big Happy Christmas to baby Roo xxxx :T0 -
Morning all
McKneff - that's a lovely thing to do. I take my work kids on residential trips 3 times per year, and any LO food - tins etc - that no-one wants at end of week (I offere it to those teens living in hostels/on their own first) goes into a box which then gets donated to local shelters.
Gosh you lot were all up early this morning! :rotfl:Is it weird that I woke up at exactly the same time as yesterday?? 8.11am, odd.
No real plans for today, the only thing I don't have is Christmas crackers and TBH I don't want to go out for them. So will ring my mum and nan and see if either have 4 spare to bring over. Flakey friend is supposidly (sp?) bringing my Xmas gift over at some point but I won't hold my breath!
OS wise - I plan on prepping everything for tomorrow's meal! I have sprouts, carrots, cabbage and spuds to peel/chop/prep, swede to cook and mash, lentil pie and nut roast to prep and assemble and maybe cook. That way I'll only have to cook the veg and gravy tomorrow
. Then later tonight I'll clean kitchen/lounge and move things round to accommodate my table (It's one that folds out bigger). DW needs emptying, and no doubt re-filling at least once!
Have a fab Christmas Eve all

Lovely reading about your Christmas preparations folks.
Been out for a walk round the park with the dogs and it's COLD out there! Thought it was meant to be warmer. We met a Polish family we see at the park quite a lot and the little girl had a Christmas card for us. She's so sweet. They had written a few cards with no names on envelopes to hand to the dog walking folk. It really made me smile. They are always out in all weathers with their dog and the little girl running around all wrapped up. She loves being outside.
Back inside and having a coffee and a warm up. Will venture to shops later for something for pud and for a melon to go with the parma ham. It's DH and me tomorrow 9and the dogs!)then family coming on 27th. I'm looking forward to seeing them all but also looking forward to putting my feet up tomorrow and enjoying a nice glass or 2 of red.
Off to have a wee browse then off to DH's uncle with a bottle of sherry!
