Will have a proper read through everyone's posts later - off to see Phantom in a mo.

Just reporting that I succumbed and bought 2 sofas today too:o:o
Half price in the DFS sale and lovely and I don't have to pay anything until Jan by which time the whole balance will be saved up (have about half now) - hurrah!
  • Hello everyone :)

Lessonlearned - Thank you for the welcome and for the healthy eating tips. I've been shopping today and stocked on fruit and veg (half term, they're eating me out of house and home!) and some other healthy snacky type stuff. Meals i'm ok with though my portions could probably do with being a bit smaller it's just the snacking i struggle with. It quickly became a habit after breastfeeding DD and needing to keep calories up :o

It's actually 12lbs i need to lose, weighed myself this morning and the scales say 9st 12lb  I weighed 9st 13lb the day BEFORE i had DS so I really need to sort it out. I know 9st 12lb doesn't seem a lot but I'm only 5'2 and have a small frame so any extra weight just makes me look like a dumpling :o

Last night I had a long bubble bath, exfoliated and slathered some body butter on, also did a deep conditioner on my hair so i'm all silky today :D I nipped into Boots this afternoon and bought a new nail polish, some emery boards and cuticle sticks so I'm planning on giving myself a mini manicure when the littlies have gone to bed. I had acrylic nails on for about 4 years right up until Xmas but can't afford thew upkeep of them anymore plus I found they got in the way sometimes with my crafting and cakes. My nails have just got back to normal as they were in a terrible state when I had the last lot taken off.

WelshWoofer - your living room sounds lovely, duck egg blue is one of my favourites :)

    Good evening everyone.

Not too much fabbing going on today apart from usual and did use a slightly darker foundation today (light) as my fair one looked very pale on me yesterday.

Had to swap the bike as it was way too big for me in the end and the shop agreed it was a mistake sale and did a very good swap to a smaller size with no arguments or discussions required. So I now do have the perfect bike for what I need

2 days off exercising as legs very tired now have rediscovered the stepper in the spare room and also doing a 6 mile run yesterday.

Lilmiss - sound slike you've made a good start on the fabbing front!
Fedup - good news about the bike, good to have something that you're 100% happy with:T

Well, having house guests is officially exhausting and starting to try my patience a bit..... Mum has gone to bed now but there's a reason that the visits are normally three days not five! I'm doing my best to be accommodating, entertaining and the hostess with the mostest but its hard sometimes - I think its because I usually live on my own and now I have to surrender my space (sounds daft I know). Oh well, one more sleep after this next one (roll on Friday...)

Phantom in the theatre in Manchester was actually quite good - not normally my cup of tea at all - the singing of every single word and overly dramatic business is laughable to me normally - but this was entertaining from beginning to end. Some people do go a bit over board though - the middle aged woman next to me cried all the way through it - said it was her 19th time:eek: I'm hoping that her HRT had run out not that she was clinically insane!:rotfl:

Anyway off to bed now to recover from the shock of spending a fortune over the past 2 days....hope I can sleep!

    Good morning everyone.

The sun is shining here and I have a busy day planned. Cleaning, tidying, start loading the car for the tip, off to see OH.

I'm a bit concerned - he's having a bit of a rough time - probably the effects of his IV steroid treatment. Hopefully he'll perk up soon.

Our new car arrives next week - so hopefully if he's ok and the weather is warm enough I can start taking him and about.

WW - watching "Phantom" 19 times  I once sat through Les Miserables - I hate to say it but I found myself thinking I've paid a kings ransom to see this............:rotfl:

When DS2 first went to uni in London he was a bit homesick so we went to see him. We thought we would take him him to "We Will Rock You" to cheer him up - it would have been £200 for three of us. We took him to the cinema instead;)

Right off to start the day.

Well done with the bike Sparkles - Now I've cleared a space in the garage I'm hoping to start using my exercise bike again just as soon as my back is easier. The Multi-gym needs fixing - hoping DS1 can't sort this otherwise it will have to be scrapped.

Actually my back is starting to feel much better. I'm doing my physic homework exercises each day and I'm starting to feel much "looser". Elbows and knees also seem a bit easier too.

    I'll get there.;)

LL Les Mis just doesn't appeal to me at all :o H has been bought tickets for his birthday to see Cirque De Soleil a week on Sunday. Am rather excited about going :)

WW :rotfl: at the HRT running out :rotfl:

    Lilmisskitkat welcome :)

Not loads of fabbing, filed my nails whilst we were en route to our family day out for H's birthday. I hasten to add I wasn't driving :rotfl:
Put our scales away as it was depressing me just standing on them. I do wonder if my mirena coil is adding to the weight issue, I am not eating too much junk and I am walking more now we have the dog and I am not noticing any difference  know that sounds like an excuse :o but I know people have recorded weight gain as a side effect and when I saw the nurse for my last smear the other week she said the mirena was now at its optimum as I've had it in two years now. If this is the case I am not sure what to do when my 5 years are up. Do I go back to horrendous monthlies and anaemia or suck up the weight gain......neither appeal unfortunately :rotfl:

Have a great day everyone :)

    Afternoon everyone.

you tend to feel a little guilty moaning about work when there are so many people who are unemployed
I'm already on a low wage for what I do for them - I have saved them a fortune on their accounts for a start, when I came in they had an accountant coming in for 3 days a month at a charge of several hundred pounds, then it went down to 1 day a month, 1 day a quarter and now I just upload the data onto their system and they come back to me with any problems.

Podperson - sounds like you're due a pay rise. You could make a good case with all those savings and system improvements. I hope you've got all that good stuff on a current cv - could help you get a better offer somewhere else.

WelshWoofer well done on entertaining your Mum. I'm sure she appreciates it, even if she doesn't say so. And you are making lovely memories for the future - you'll soon forget the trying moments.

lessonlearned - hope your OH is starting to perk up. Your posting about the exercise bike in the garage reminds me that I've got one buried in mine. As soon as I can start lifting stuff I'm going to excavate it :rotfl: Thanks for the banana mask recipe. Sounds delicious:)

Today's fabbing priority has to be a hairwash - its been ignored for too long  And I might be brave and paint my nails a more noticeable colour than pale pink.

Was also thinking about trying some earrings. haven't worn any for so long the holes may have closed. Wonder if I need to get them redone or can I just push some studs through? Anyone tried this?

    Have a fab day everyone.

I had mine redone by a chap from the Dungeons & Dragons group - who is qualified, and actually did this sort of work for a living, I hasten to add.:o Pushing studs through was waaaayy too painful.
I'd try the studs first - the holes may still be OK - but if you get any resistance at all, get them re-pierced.

I am sorry but I have come on here for a bit of a moan, as basically I have no-one in my life to hear me or listen.

I had arranged for my little one to go to a play barn with another boy who has autism from his class at school. As you all probably know once you a tell a child something when they have autism it HAS to happen, there is do deferring or doing tomorrow or another day.

Boys Mum has cancelled  I understand things happen, just think that she more than anyone should understand how difficult a change can be. I had to tell my lad his friend was poorply as he understands that when you are poorly you stay at home.

So we go together, I cannot fit through the tiny holes he can (obviously as he is 6 and I am a touch over 30) but he doesn`t understand. All the children are playing with friends or siblings, he has big trouble communicating so cant join in with games and is uncomfortable when other kids get too close.

A woman taps me on the shoulder, "have you just brought one today?" yes I say smiling, happy to strike up a conversation, "oh" she says, "my two would never play one their own like yours is" in a snide manner, "well" I say "my son has learning difficulties and has problems interacting with other children" , She smiles and as she walks away she says"ah, never never mind"

I would love to have another child, but the chances of having another with autism is over 75% and I just couldnt cope, I feel so much like he should have siblings to play with but I know in my heart he wouldnt play with them and more than likely be frightened to death and his anxiety get ten times worse.

Sorry, just fed up with life and people being so nasty, I have cheered him up by buying him a toilet block, (he collects them and keeps them in their packaging so please dont worry about him poisoning himself or anything :rotfl:) see what a bizarre life I have!

Fed up, hey ho, theres always tomorrow!

    Hi all,

WW - glad you enjoyed Phantom, I really enjoy musicals but haven't been to see one for ages since a) OH can't stand them and I don't know a lot of people up here who would want to go to something like that and b) as others have mentioned the tickets are just so expensive. I appreciate that with a large cast/orchestra etc there are going to be a lot of people who need paying but some of the prices charged still seem a bit steep :( Know what you mean about the house guests, I always love to have my parents come and stay but by the time they leave I'm kind of wanting my house to myself again :o

Lilmisskitkat - apologies, missed your post totally on my last skim through :o welcome to the thread and sounds like you're off to a great start already! Must follow the example as have been getting quite bad with the snacking lately - at one point I had cut them out altogether and wasn't even missing them but then started having the odd one and now am back to munching regularly - no wonder the scales aren't going down

LL - have fun with your busy day, hope OH is a little brighter, like you said is probably just his body adjusting to the steroids.

Bitsy - ooh, love Cirque du Soleil, hope you have fun :) Re the coil, not had much experience with it but have been on the depo injection for years now and find it really good. You have to have it every 3 months but I don't have any bleeding at all on it, I think some people are supposed to get a bit of spotting but not a 'full' period.

Rosetta - I think I am definately due a payrise for the job I do but I very much doubt I'll get one :( It's only a very small company and they are making cutbacks at the moment as it is, cutting down other staff's hours and things, so it's not a great time to be asking. Tbh I have considered looking elsewhere as if I got a role that was specifically the role I do now I should be looking at a higher rate but I'm aware the job market's not great and while I do get annoyed with some things about my job then at least on the whole I just get left alone to get on with things - I don't really want to go back to a job with people standing over me all day and loads of targets to meet etc. I'm hoping just to stick this out for now while I work on ways to get income in on a self-employed basis then can leave and just do my own thing :)
Re the earrings, I got my ears pierced twice, one when I was about 11 and the second holes when I was about 17/18. I can go months and even a year at times without wearing earrings, the bottom ones are usually fine - one goes in easily, the other I tend to have to wiggle round for a bit :rotfl:The second holes have pretty much healed up and unless I try and really force it through I can't really wear anything in them. Sounds a bit icky but they tend to be fine at the front and so the stud will go into the hole but a tiny bit of skin heals over the back and you can 'repierce' it with a bit of force :o I don't know if it's cause I was younger when I had the first holes done or if they just did a better job :)

Anyways, managed to actually have a fairly relaxing night last night. Finally got round to doing a condition on my hair and did a body scrub and a defuzz. Didn't get round to doing my nails so must do them tonight, will repaint red to go with my 'uniform' for Friday/Saturday nights. Picked up a black skirt from Matalan on the way home so will sort through the wardrobe and find a top to go with tonight. Work won't let me finish early unfortunately so am going to have to go straight there and will still miss half the soundcheck :( Was hoping to go to film group tonight but OH wants me to help him do camera plans for weekend, he's kind of being left to do them on his own and since I know the songs it will probably go quicker with both of us.
