One of the cats left a dead vole under our bed a few years back. My goodness, that smelled bad. Funny thing though at the beginning I thought it was my OH getting an attack of athletes foot again and I was nagging him to get the Mycil out.....Val.0

I wonder how many people will now be wanting to dismantle and scrub every inch of their kitchen after reading this thread lol... I am so having nightmares tonight about mouldy potatoes and mice corpses rotting somewhere in my kitchen

Agree with the deliquescing mouse in the freezer coils...yuck.
I may have read the thread too fast, but has anybody mentioned the trap under the sink? DD and some friends made some banana oatmeal face masks at a sleepover recently, washed their faces in the kitchen sink...and within a day it smelled like nothing on earth.import this0 -
Someone in my house had put a clean cats feeding bowl on top of a dirty one and boy did the kitchen smell. I was looking after a multitude of moggies at the time and didn't find out where the smell was coming from for weeks.
Another candidate is the slop bin that our council has supplied us with, cabbage and cauliflower peelings really smell after a couple of days.0 -
We had a similar problem in a house we once lived in - turned out that when some repair work was was being done the builders had broken the cap that was sealing off a pipe that once went to a dishwasher. It was a really horrible smell - a sort of eggy ammoniay blocked drain stink, but worse. We replaced the cap and the smell went, but it wasreally nasty.0

Is it an intergrated fridge? We've had this "bad" smell a couple of times. We thought it was coming from behind the kick boards so pulled everything out etc. In the end it was milk that had spilt in the fridge and was trapped in the tray thingy under the intergrated fridge that isn't removable to clean:mad:. Really bad design and a nightmare to try and mop up the milk by pushing kitchen roll inside the tray.Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

A friend of mine once had a vile smell in her kitchen for ages. They eventually tracked it down to a slimy potato mouldering away behind one of the units! They have no idea how it got there....but the smell was awful _pale_
I had exactly the same thing once, with a bag of spuds, I had put them in the cupboard and forgotten them, the smell was like nothing on earth _pale_ and it took me ages to track them down, and to get rid of the smell0 -
Nothing accidentally left mouldering in the oven?
:o

I was at a friend's house & she had a yucky smell in the kitchen & she tracked it down to having cooked spaghetti a few days earlier & left it in the pot with the lid on... Take it your friend checked all the pans?
I know someone who'd lost a frozen chicken portion under the fridge & didn't realise until they could smell it & took the kitchen apart tracking it down.
& I had a friend feeding my cat while I was on holiday & putting the empty but unwashed tins in the bin under my sink... We were away for 2 weeks in the summer so this was not nice to come back to.0 -
I was also going to suggest a bad potato hiding somewhere - that is truley the most awful thing I have ever smelt!0
