If any of my dogs killed another animal I would have them put to sleep at the earliest opportunity!you are quick to judge but are u as quick to apologise?

Afternoon! Back from whoopsie-ing at Pig Hill, absolute waste of time as per usual!

However I did notice that 4 new clipstrips full of the Andrex have appeared in the loo roll aisle so I availed myself of one at the cracking price of 12p! Also got three of the coffee machine cleaners and two packs of sarah smith cloths for a huge 1p each. Some normal vag whoopsies, salad etc, a LOT of bread there especially Hovis Best of Both medium, only half price an hour ago though so may go down more!

Off now to get a Maccy D's :D

  • I'm sure there are people here who will think what I'm about to say is really mean, sorry but when I found out how some of these organisations work I changed my ways.

Many Charities share or sell their mailing list of 'benefactors' as it allows them to 'churn' the people who are willing to give into a new area. I'm sorry to say it's a psychological fact that if you give me to one charity you're much more likely to also give to another one and they exploit this. Also a surprising large number of charities employ management teams who's senior managers are on either high 5 figure or 6 figure salaries. Many also employ professional collectors who in some instances retain up to 70% of the monies collected.

As a result I stopped giving money to charities years ago, I still give food (2/3 of my OEP haul went to a local Hostel) and my time (Christmas Day I've worked at homeless shelters helping prep lunch for over 15 years now) and 11 years ago I paid for a Childrens Ward in a hospital to be painted with Animal and Outdoor Scenes (but only on the condition that the person doing the painting did NOT identify me, even to the hospital, as I didn't then want to be pursued by other 'worthy' causes).

It's perhaps the same mindset as if I see someone living on the street I'll never give them cash, but I will buy them food - simplistically because I'm then certain what my contribution is being used for.

If you do give cash to a Charity check to see what percentage of their income goes directly to the work they do, find out how much the Chief Executive and Finance Director are getting paid, finally see if they employ professional collection or sales firms.

Giving hard earned money to a Charity is a generous and kind thing to do, it's heartbreaking to then later find out it may have been used for things you didn't know or expect.

Someone apporached me a few years ago wanting me to go into buisness with them, they wanted to open a charity shop.. When I went into details regarding this, what I was told, 50% of the proceeds had to go to the charity, the rest could be profit in the pocket!!!!!!

Needless to say, when I heard this I said a deffo No No...
I wouldnt be able to sleep at night knowing I was pocketing profits that people had been donating..

Since then, I havent done much with charity shops, I used to buy a lot from them... But as you lot say, if I donated something to a charity shop, I would expect it to go to the charity not to the person who started it..

:smileyhea Wholeheartedly agree with rescuing pets. All my cats have 'found' me and never been chosen. Some arrived with serious hangups which have been removed with TLC :) One cat who is now 16½ yrs old I spotted on the river bank whilst out walking my dog. As soon as I spotted him, another dog (not mine) grabbed him & I screamed & gained superhuman strength from somewhere & prised the dogs jaws open & got the kitten out. Who then promptly wet himself all down me :o

We also had a 3 legged cat called Tizzy who lost her leg in a trap. She regularly had to have hernia repairs but nothing stopped her :T

Awwww how gorgeous is he?! Well done for rescuing him, it's amazing the strength a rush of adrenaline will give you, it gives you great speed as well, I once had to run from a falling log (school activity weekend), never got from one place to another so fast in my life!!

This is my latest lost boy. Turned up last Easter - had made the bin shed his hidden home. Took us a few months to eventually get near enough to trap him & get him neutered & MOTed. His life changed & he moved himself into house & is a very very loving happy cat now :D

My Treacle - rescued from Cats Protection 3 years ago, she's been there for months and had a "long stayer" notice on her cage, they said it was because she was fully grown, black(unpopular apparently) and long haired(high maintenance:eek:) - she is beautiful and equally crazy:rotfl:

That's the only cat picture I will post I promise lol back to the T's deals!!

And yay I have another star - think I talk too much:):)

Oh s0d that! I'd have her down on my adoption list before you could say "give my cat back!" lol! One of mine is a long-haired sort of tabby-ish-thing and he's mad, from the long-haired cats I've met before, I'm sure there's something in their lh genes that make them so daft and easy going, I wouldn't hesistate to get another longhaired cat!
