Sorry what do you mean by "wash it well"? I'm a bit of a numpty and need things spelling out for me :o

Sorry, drain off the buttermilk (can be kept for other things) and then rinse the butter well until the water runs clear.

Afternoon all 11+ ers, hope everyone is well and looking forward to 2012. I'm back home after a few days in London with DD which was wonderful but not one visit to a Mr Ts:eek:

I've not read back all the way as yet, I don't imagine there will be that much in the way of glitches, however if anyone local wants to give me a heads up I would be most happy:D

Need to get bread, milk etc this afternoon so I think I will indulge myself with a nice strole around one or two shops:cool:

Have I missed the news on the Baby and Sunshine?
Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(
Stripper No 7 in HCSC :D
  • Was in a T's yesterday on the ss happily scanning 15 packs of the 1p crisps and 3 of the candle lighters, had a couple more 1p things but was putting some normal shopping through when a security guard came up and started looking in my bags. When I asked him why,he said that he had been asked to check my shopping as I had that much reduced stuff it had flagged an alert up  He asked me where I had got the crisps, I said the crisp aisle by the reduced stuff (true) he was really nice and said thats ok, if that what the till says then asked me where abouts the lighters were as he wanted a couple :rotfl:

Do the ss tills flag up the 1p things when you put a lot through together? SA manning the ss tills wasnt watching his screens, he was busy chatting with his mate.

Do you have a pic of the lighters please? I'm sure I saw soem of these yesterday but failed to scan them.

I bought 6 tubs of double cream last night down from £1.90 to 19p, this is what 2 of the tubs have yeilded, so ½ lb butter for around 19p :) I salted the one I will use for now the others that are being frozen will be unsalted (Will use them in the cake mixes)

For the butter - I popped 2 of the tubs into a big bowl and whisk on high until the whisks are almost "seized" and you think what the hell its all gone wrong, but a minute later it suddenly goes all "slack" (Stop tittering at the back!!") add salt if needed now (dont add salt if freezing) quickly turn off the whisk and drain the liquid off (its buttermilk if you want to use it for other things) then add about half a mug of ice cold water either whisk (be careful as its very splattery) or kneed do this 3-4 times until the water isnt milky then squeeze the water out and freeze/pop in the fridge

    Simplez :)

And..... I found one of the £5 Dab radios

    (Fuzzy) Picture's to follow!!

Thats a really fab haul, well done!

Without wishing to sound like a sourpuss though, 21 packs of sandwich meat??? Do you really need all that?

I get some whopping hauls but often leave tons and tons of stuff. In morrisons the other night I could have have 4o or 50 packs or sarnie ham, 15 or 20 packs of pork pies, dozens of packs sausage rolls etc etc, but its only a bargain if you will actualy use it. I could have filled a trolley with it all, but took just a carrier bag full.

If it sits in the bottom of a freezer till it gets so frost bitten its inedible then its not a bargain! :D

As I say, not having a go, just suggesting when we all go whoopsying that we should try not to get too carried away. :)

One thing I do like about whoopsies though is the opportunity to try things I wouldnt normal try. Its hard to warrant 4.99 or something for a posh ready meal, not knowing if you'll like it or not, but when its 50p its worth trying. I've found quite a few new things I like eating this way.

thanks nikki :) but I'm afraid your tactic won't work with the esseys :( I'm an 'all or nothing' girl  'when' I finally start it I'll get all four done in no time but I will push it as far as I possibly can... it's always 'tomorrow I'll get it done' with things like this... why oh why did I even start this bl00dy Uni !!!!! :o

off to get the duck ready and put in the oven, polish the flat for the 5th time this week and do a million other things... :o see it's not just the thread that keeps me away from it - it's bl00dy ANYTHING I can find! :(

Oh well, looking forward to my hairdressers visit :D and the mani/pedi I ordered as well :o but that I'll keep for the spring/summer :p
