With car hire always take out all the additional insurances. It just takes some prat to go in to you and whether it's their fault or not you will end up hundreds, if not thousands out of pocket.

With car hire we find it is sometimes worth paying a bit more in the basic for companies such as Hertz & Avis, as their insurances are usually more reasonable than local companies. Plus they generally have much shorter lines at the airport.

For anyone over 50, Saga over good rates with Hertz, we rented a car in my mums name last time to get their rates.

The AA offer a good insurance to cover holiday car hire extras.

P.S Hope you've got your nice new warm coat on!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have, my Barbour wax jacket is the best money I've ever spent. My last winter coat was passed it's best (actually it didn't fit, just don't tell sis) so I decided on a new one. Not bad considering the last one did me 5 years.

I don't suppose many of you can remember the great xmas hamper fiasco of xmas 2008/9 .
Tesco direct sold lovely hampers in whicker baskets . The finest hamper was a hundred and something and the other approx £80. After christmas they reduced them to £20 and £40 ish . So lots of us orderd multiple hampers . The very next day they reduced the cheaper of the hampers to £10 each . So we all cancelled the orders and were refunded and re-ordered at the cheaper price as you do .A lot of the new orders were cancelled as they did not have enough stock
But the strange thing was all the cancelled and refunded orders started to arrive:D . I left my 2 hampers wrapped up for a few weeks in case they asked for them back , when I did get round to opening them , I had 2 of the finest ones with champers and luxury goodies :D
Tesco stopped selling them after that .:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks. Lovely trip down Memory Lane.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

when we got stuck in greece, we looked at hiring a car to drive from london to bristol as we knew we wouldnt get a flight back to bristol. They wanted the hire charge AGAIN for going one way

then we realised we both only had the photo part of our driving licences so wouldnt have been able to do so anyway

It went very well - thank you for your help JJ.

It was all much quicker and easier than I had imagined and tasted yummy.

Just a few bits of leftover chicken, two mushrooms and a tin of free condensed soup - what a bargain.

Even better - it is just my dd and I at home so we only ate half the pie - tonight we will be eating leftover leftover pie!

Added bonus... it made me feel all 'Domestic Goddess-y' smelling my pie baking in the oven and I took a photo of it to show you :)

    Awesome!!!

You've egged the top well too. Nice, shiny n golden.
My pie tonight was only partly used so I've got some for dinner tomorrow too.
The mince was only a quid whoopsied. It made mince, onions and gravy yesterday to go with potatoes n veg. Leftover mince n onions were saved for today's leftover pie.. (some of which is leftover which means leftover leftover pie for dinner tomorrow!)

I love old style moneysaving :T

Now you've started, you won't stop!

Had an easycash card so no fees.
    Managed with hand luggage only.
Made sure I never lost boarding passes (print a couple of each and keep in separate places)
Don't pay for priority boarding just walk very quickly or better still, get OH to walk quickly.
Take your own sarnies and drink with you.

In those days a golden ticket lasted up to 12 years!

I will admit to having purchased priority boarding when it first started but only because I'm 6' 3. Never purchased anything on board. :)

That really made me laugh, got a vision now of you screeching up on the T's mobility scooter to help me out:rotfl::rotfl:

:rotfl:that would have scared the s**t out of them, wouldn't it :D
see if you can see which fridge I crashed into at Mr T's but I did dodge the huge champagne display in the middle of the 1st aisle :)

One way fees are crippling although sis and I got a cracking deal in Canada and NZ but only because we were in their 'Off' seasons.
