This is EXACTLY what happened to myself and another friend of martins in my local. We were keeping our eyes on the pecan twirls etc, all dated 24/25th. We were told that the bakery staff were leaving them on the shelves as there was not enough staff to reduce them. This included all the French sticks, etc too!

    Shameless waste

One of the 3 stores did reduce down bread/bakery items, value carrots, brussel sprouts & some plants/poinsettias but cleared the refrigerated stuff. Another had 50% discount on whoopsies and when asked by another customer if they were being reduced more before closing was told that there would be no more discounts and that anything left would be cleared & destroyed, they also had bigger reductions on brussel sprouts & loaves of bread. The 3rd and biggest had 2 whoopsie areas yesterday and one had already been cleared when I was in less than an hour before closing. At the second area I overheard a member of staff who had arrived with a trolley tell a customer that she was removing the items, when pushed if they were being reduced and brought back out she said no it was getting destroyed. They had loads of bakery items that had no discount either. I would have perhaps been of the opinion it was for staff but I saw a few members of staff who had obviously finished their shifts rummaging in with everyone else so not inclined to believe that now.
My dh used to work in M&S (15yrs ago) and at the end of the day the staff got the ood items at a fraction of the price so have no problem with staff getting a bargain...but wasting it is wrong. I know h&s and lawsuits play precedence these days but it's Christmas!

    On a different note...
If a friend of yours were to shave off her hair for charity in memory of a friend who died of leukaemia, would you sponsor her? And out of curiosity how much?

Depends how much you can afford :money:

Mr 3Dogs shaved his head when a friend of ours from the car boots was diagnosed with cancer and was to undergo chemo and thus lose her hair, to make her feel better about it. After one chemo, they said she wouldn't have any more, so she didn't lose her hair, but Mr 3Dogs still shaves his head every 3 days or so, as he likes it like that now :D The friend is still with us, though not out of the woods yet

I don't think it would have been destroyed. It would have been reduced further and the staff would have had it.

Don't be so sure, my mum works at a comepetitor to Mr T and all they got was some bread and a few cakes given out to the staff despite lots being left over

Oh at least it was something, Tesco have stopped giving me anything as
they always "cannot compare" basici tems and brand names!!
My last Asda womble gave me nearly £8.

I find that too I have also noticed that T have started to call things by a "basic" name like Cornflakes not Kelloggs cornflakes so the don't compare
