it's a long slog but each day is a step closer to freedom and that day would pass you by anyway...
I do hope you haven't come down with the flu and that you get better soon x0 -
Hi El, your comment about instant gratification is spot on. Having to relearn behaviours rather than continuing with the old ways is hugely challenging.
If you're not feeling well and have the threat of losing so many hours of work, it's no surprise you feel this way.
I can only suggest you think of how you will feel when the debt has gone and just focus on that.
The other aspect about how to keep money coming in,is difficult. I hate eb@y so I only do it occasionally. Do you do Shop and sc@n, or Consumer P£lse? How about car boots when the weather is better?
Thinking of you

Well that's 3 weeks menu planning done, this weeks hopping list written out and the butternut squash soup on cooking ... Soon as that's done will nip to the shops and get the shopping finished ( it had better be cheaper than last weeks ) then were good to go for the week
Still sneezing and snottering but I have found my Vicks first defence so fingers crossed that works as just now is not a good time for me to be off0 -

when i wrote the reply about the 3 weeks menu planning done the message from taxi wasnt there ,neither was yours, then when i replied to taxi your meesage wasnt there... phones are handy for somethings but you really need a laptop or main computer to get the full picture
i think you could be right Tilly, i think it could be because i'm not feeling too great just now and i'm thinking about how i cant afford to be sick as we need the money but how i cant go into work due to the nature of my work if i am sick, and how this has to be my life for the next 6 plus years ( unless i get a new job which is highly unlikely given the current climate)
dont get me wrong i am not sitting here thinking ohhh if we were mortgage free i could be off willy nilly, no i couldnt but i wouldnt need to be as concerned about it as i am just now, and i wouldnt need to do overtime as much ( if ever) so i could relax a bit more
i tried to sign up to shop and scan but i didnt get anywhere with that i dont think they needed anyone, i havnt tried consumer pulse will have a look at that thanks, car boots are another iffy thing here .. i did one made £20 odd after paying the £10 entrance fee but it rained, it rains here so much you can never really plan anything like car boots , will maybe brain storm some ideas and see what i can come up with
just had a wee quick look at consumer pulse, its an invite only thing ... will need to find out how to go about getting invited0 -
I hope you start to feel better soon el. Personally, I think you're amazing and you work such long hours at work I'm surprised you are so strong on the sugar front (I'd be on an intravenous drip of melted mars bars by now!).
I agree wholeheartedly with Tilly and Taxi (sounds like a cbeebies show:D), take care of yourself so you can bounce back even stronger XFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)

Thanks natty and butti, I think I'm just having a slump day ... Normal service will resume shortly I hope
Well the shopping, know how I wanted to spend less tho week? It came to £54.65 there were two things not on the shopping list like batteries at £6 and alcohol free lager for mr el at £6 the lager was reduced by £9 and the batteries had £3.50 off them ( batteries for smoke alarms )
I think if we didn't have those two we would've been better at £42.57 but still not great, ok if that was all we had spent , but it isn't we spent £15 through the week on chicken so far this month we have spent £260 on shopping ... That's a lot for two people ... Will need to try and get this down
I think I will need to really concentrate on the food for a wee bit till we can get control of this budget0 -
Hi El, hope you are feeling a bit better this evening. I sometimes think everything seems to come in waves. We could cope with one thing, but then 2, 3 and 4 things hit us at once and it gets a bit much.
Sending a dodgy hug :grouphug: and hope your week goes ok.

Thanks Tilly dodgy hugs appreciated
I agree it is like waves, and usually it's easy enough to stay up beat.. Just when it's been that one thing after another my mind starts to wonder to the what if scenario, what if we just decided to !!!! it all and go on a spending spree or just take our time and not pay any extra ... Then that wee voice reminds me to keep plodding and that wee voice is so right ... You don't climb a mountain from the top ... You start at the bottom and slowly step by step you get there, sometimes meandering and changing direction and getting lost and disheartened on the way ... But slowly step by step you reach the top ... And I love climbing hills ... The feeling of satisfaction that you get when you stand at the top and see what you have achieved takes a lot to beat ... And I'm positive when we are debt free it will be an amazing feeling as well
Tomorrow is another day and I will be back an fighting ... Probably the cold mind you lol0
