Had a last few items to buy ...

..... went into Town last night between 6 and 8pm ...... thought it would be empty.

Not on your nelly!! Car Parks FULL, shops jammed to the rafters with people grabbing anything that may be left, the walkways were just a people soup .... I gave up in the end - it's madness.

And the amount of money being spent was mindboggling ..... this is the South, of course. And I do realise the Northern towns are full of boarded up shops rather than full of shoppers.

But, hereabouts, it's like the good times had never briefly disappeared ...... it's full steam ahead!!

Don't worry, Northerners, the affluence will filter down to you soon enough.

  • Which South Coast town was that MrRee? I grew up near Poole, and when I went back for a funeral recently it was full of people clutching Primark bags. Not the sign of a town going places.

    Festival Place, Basingstoke.

But, it was the same in Bournemouth and Poole last week.

PACKED!!! Maybe the Primark bags were from their visits up't North in the Summer?

    I'd like "It's a mystery" by Toyah.

Mystery from MrRee ... seems apt :)

No, there is a big Primark in Poole where Littlewoods used to be. The only other shops on the High St appeared to be phone shops. It looked pretty tatty and provincial.

This thread appears to be about how surprised someone was that lots of people went shopping on an evening in the week before christmas.

    Surprising? Really????
