It's now nearly one month from when I sent the first secure message asking about when the interest will start to be paid on this stupid account. After having received a payment of £25 (presumably for my complaint, but no communication to confirm this), I STILL have not received an answer to my question. One thing's for sure, I would never use this account as my main bank account.0

Your lucky, I applied in early January and despite filling in the application online along with saying "Yes, I wish to switch my account to HSBC" and giving them the account details, I was told I'd still need to fill out a switching form and it'll be sent to me. It arrived this Wednesday, along with some junk about their other fee paying accounts. I closed the account today as I just couldn't be bothered any more. Apparently they were waiting for the 14 day cooling period to expire before ordering anything. Seems a little daft considering you can close the account whenever anyway.0 -

I had to fill one in too, but I downloaded one from their website and sent it off before I received the one they sent, I just had to wait for the account number and sort code in order to complete the form. Out of pure frustration, I rang them yesterday evening and was told there was a letter on the way to me which apparently says they're looking into the matter for me, but still no answer to my question!!! When pushed, the CS rep confirmed that she could see that I had earned £1 interest (from my opening deposit of the required monthly £500), so I at least know now I can transfer the remaining £2,000 to start earning the 6%. I asked when this elusive interest would be visible for me to see, and she said it wouldn't show until March. Not bad for a monthly paying account that was opened in December

my experience of switching has been very smooth. Been with HSBC for 9 years, always have good experience with them. Completely different from you guys

Well, OH has just had interest added to the account dated 4 Feb. Haven't a clue why the 4th, it doesn't tie in with any particular date.0

yes, I've had interest on the 4th too. Not quite sure what period it covers as it doesn't seem much !0

The balance in the account was only £500 as didn't want to transfer any more into it until sure receiving interest. I've worked out that it's between 16 and 17 days, but can't get an exact figure.0 -
Never hurts to complain. I've just checked my account and found £25 has been added to it today, this will have been from the complaint I generated because my question hasn't been answered. The absolutely stupid thing is, they've added the £25 to my account but STILL not answered my question!
Well, I'm now on my second lot of "compensation". After not receiving an answer to my question about from when interest is payable and registering it as a complaint, I received £25 on 24 January, but still no answer. I rang again a couple of days' ago complaining that I'd still not received a reply, and today I find that ANOTHER £25 has been added to my account, BUT STILL NO ANSWER! God help anyone who has a difficult question to ask them!0 -
Does anyone know if you can cancel any of the switched standing orders once the account has started to earn the 6% interest? Logic would say that you can cancel the standing orders, but I don't want to lose the 6% interest on the account now that it's earning interest, and going on the terrible lack of response from their secure message service, I don't think I can bring myself to go through that (mind you it has earned me £50 of compensation for lack of contact, so maybe I should go for my 3rd lot of £25
). 0
