HSBC: 6% (fixed) on Current Accounts for new **and existing** customers

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help, as HSBC can’t seem to!
So I’ve been a customer of HSBC for 15+ years and fancied this 6% deal. So downloaded the switching form and filled it out and posted it off, so far so good. A few days ago I received a letter and list of my SO and DD from HSBC with details of the DD/SOs on my Santander bank account which I’m switching from, again all fine. Apart from I only want to transfer 2 or 3 DD/SOs to HSBC and not all of then, the letter says if you want to transfer just a few call them and tell then which ones. Called then 4 different times now , and no one seems to understand what’s going on, and cant find out how to transfer a few of the DD/SOs rather than all of them. After the last call they are now sending me a new form which I can supposedly use to indicate which ones I want to transfer, but I don’t think this is right as the person of the phone did not really understand what I was getting at.
So, can anyone confirm how you went about only transferring a few DD/SO rather them all?
Also, did you all get a copy of the same letter? Just a simple 3 page letter with a list of DD/SOs, or did you get something different, i.e. something to send back indicating which ones to transfer?
Thanks all! :T
Sounds a though I had the same letter. However I'm a happy for all the SO's to be transferred. It's an account I'm not using and just set up a couple of token £1 SO's so I could get this deal.
No mention of 6% yet though. A secure message I sent on the subject has been forwarded to another dept, and not yet responded to.
No great deal if it doesn't work out. 4.8% (net) on a max. £2500 for the year is never going to make you a fortune. Just like regular savers they're trying to dazzle punters with a large headline percentage. Worth a try though if you have an HSBC account already and an account elsewhere. Don't think i'd have bothered otherwise.0 -
I have 2 HSBC current accounts plus a couple of old saver accounts, could I close either one of the current accounts (Which I was planning to do anyway) or one of the saver accounts and get this offer?
I have about £3000 in one of the saving accounts which I don't 'need' over 12 months so can take advantage of the full £2500 limit
Sorry if already answered

Haven't had time to read whole thread, but I rang the bank when the ad came out originally and was blooming annoyed to find that as a loyal customer (ie fool) I do not qualify, as I've nothing to transfer.
I was surprised to see the recommendation in Martin's e-mail today!
Am sorely tempted to transfer out of HSBC!Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Does anyone know if you have to keep the "switched" standing orders operable in the HSBC account to maintain the 6% interest (if the interest ever appears!), or can you cancel them?0

Hooray. Confirmation from HSBC that I'm getting 6% interest. Worthwhile 5 mins to set up a couple of token £1 SO's on my other current acct, then transfer them. Suspect they won't do this offer again.
Today's the last day for anyone to apply and get the form into to their HSBC branch.0 -

Mr. K,
Can you let us know what date did you hand in the form, and what date is on the letter, and when is the switch suppose to happen?
Thanks0 -

I posted the form to my branch on 10th January. They replied with a letter on the 19th Jan stating which so's are going to be being transferred on the 10th Feb. After a couple of secure messages they've confirmed 6% is being paid for a year from the 23rd Jan.0 -
If you are transferring any SO's/DD's from another account I'd advise checking the switch goes over to your HSBC and monitor they are collected as normal. Hsbc made a mistake on one of my DD's.
The result was a missed payment.
Having spoken with them today they will resolve the problem in time for
next month and compensate me with £10.
Hope this helps others0 -

Not really 5 minutes though is it?
Setup SO's - 5 minutes
Fill in application form - 5 - 10 minutes
Fill in signature form
Fill in interactive services form
Fill in switching form0
