Absolutely agree with you; I was thinking more of a retailer myself and how it is commercial suicide to risk customer complaints and claims for "missing items" based on no tracking of high value goods.

    its a balace
save £x on each package vs lose £x on lost/damaged items
  • Mine arrived today, 2 days late, by royal mail.

Those that are getting their postage refunded, did you phone them to complain?

was it plain old RM or did you notice if it was tracked or the like?

can your flatmate confirm what postal method they came by?

It came with the regular post. There is no indication of it being a special delivery
  • Some of my items arrived today when they were supposed to arrive on Tuesday. Be interesting to see when the rest of the items show up?

My items (PC games) arrived individually packaged and were sent by 1st class airmail from Jersey. What a joke! Why are they promising a next day delivery and then posting 1st class? I will be complaining oncee the rest of my items finally arrive!

Well having been a user of Play.com for a while - I thought I would take advantage of this service - and am on the phone to an extremely clueless bint, who is telling me (as with others) it went out via the postal service (i.e. Royal Mail as standard mail, and NOT via Parcel Force) and that I have to phone back TOMORROW to get a refund.

I spoke to an equally witless supervisor who I had to argue with to get the premium postage refunded.

They claim they are using the Royal Mail express delivery service - the fastest possible (which I always thought was Special delivery)
she tried to fob me off with the fact that the parcel can't be tracked because it is coming from a warehouse in Jersey - I pointed out that in the early years of using play.com =- box sets over a certain amount were always sent recorded delivery and had to be signed for - so I know that they are capable of sending things from Jersey using that.

She stated that she has now refunded the premium charge - and next time i will just opt for the free delivery as I know that it gets there eventually.

I doubt that neither of the two women I spoke to have ever SEEN Jersey - and probably think it is a garment you pull over your head to keep you warm.

    Very disappointing from Play.

It will be VERY interesting to see/photograph and include in my letter of complaint the label that comes with my parcels as I have no doubt they will arrive in the next day or so.

    Will keep you posted.

I got an email from Play yesterday - they acknowledged that they are having teething problems (!) with Express Delivery in particular and interesting also stated that a lot of customers have been complaining. I also stated in my letter that being told by the call centre muppets that "remember 99% of deliveries are fine, there are only issues with 1% " isn't any comfort to someone who has paid for next day delivery.
Also telling me "once it's left the warehouse it's not our responsibility" is very aggravating.

Anyway I sent the the emails confirming express delivery and scans of the packing notes also stating Express, followed by scans of the packaging with 1st class and got a £15 discount voucher code for my issues.

So it is worth complaining to them formally.
