hi i have/had a htc desire im 14 months into 24month contract, my phone broke about 3 months ago so i sent it off fro 'repair' phone returned 4 days later still broken, so i sent it off again this time came back 2 weeks later phone worked for about 4 days before breaking again, so i sent phone off for a 3rd time over 5 weeks ago.......... im still waiting for phone and have phoned and emailed every few day to see whats happening, now it turns out they have lost it,
They say they will send me a phone from the repair centre that is made up of spare parts is this acceptable?
Personally im beyond frustrated with them and this is wholly unacceptable i would expect a NEW phone even if that meant a newer model.
Any thoughts am i expecting too much?

I think it's unreasonable to expect a brand new phone if yours broke after 11 months of using.
Normally it will be a refurbished phone, that per se is not different from "made of spare parts". It does have to be in the same or better condition as your phone. To make sure that it is the case it is worth taking good photos of your phone before sending it off.0 -
Did you send them a new phone? No, so why would you expect one back?
What you'll be getting is a referb, which won't be something that's been made up of spare parts, but a phone that was sent to them and repaired. Pretty much what you should have got back in the first place (only your phone repaired, not another one).0 -
When this happened with my son's blackberry, the phone they sent looked like it was brand new, so chances are the one they sent you will be in better condition than the one u sent4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

i ve been paying a smartphone contract for 3 months without the use of a smartphone, now they have lost MY phone and want me to accept someone elses cast off, im also dubious a phone refurbed by their lab buffoons doesnt fill me with any faith, for all the messing about they have done i would have expected a new phone as an act of goodwill if nothing else.0

My OH has managed to break a few phones now due to his job and each time gets one sent back which is a re-furb,looks brand new though so no id expect a re-furbed phone back0

You are paying for talk time/data usage. The phone was given as a bonus. This is wrong when people think the phone itself is part of the contract (the marketing makes people believe like this).
There is always a possibility that phone will be lost/broken. Just keep a standby phone when this happens.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
phone is not a bonus im paying a premium for the phone in my contract as if i was paying sim only contract would be half the price and as my standby phone cannot access the internet im paying for data i cannot use
ORANGE by the way didnt want to know and were no help at all plus they are hiking up my contract mid contract.......but thats another story
Will be my last ORANGE and my last HTC0 -
HTC was in BBC Watchdog for losing customers' phones. For this reason, it makes sense to take SIM only contract and buy a phone separately. Often it comes out cheaper than long contract with free phone.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

if i had bought my phone seperately it still woulda broke and htc still woulda lost it.......tbh any working phone htc manage to send me would be a relief0

IMHO, a sim-free phone and a sim-only contract wouldn't make much difference in this case unless it is 1 month rolling contract.0
