They have eventually said that as I already have a BC platinum (in fact BC platinum plus one ex-egg money card) I'm not eligible.

Why they didn't say on the first page of the application that existing BC holders aren't eligible, I have no idea. It would have saved both of us a great deal of time.

    and a credit search.
I expect the same response but why it takes months to work that out I don't know.

I've also had a response about my card not working at Esso pay at pump.
They have finally told me that it's probaby the retailer not updating their BIN number ranges that were provided in November (why so late?)
I got this info about a month sooner from this site.
  • I applied for a Barclaycard in early December, and received it a week later
  • I applied for a Barclaycard on 13th Nov, they requested proof of address details one week later which i sent to them. I called them several times asking how much longer it would be and they just said there was a backlog due to high demand. I received my proof of address documents back mid-december with just the 2 documents in the envelope - both stamped stating that they had been received. I called Barclaycard again on the 29th December who stated that my proof of address had not been sufficient and so the application was still pending. When i asked them how i was supposed to know that the documents were not correct as there had been no communication from them to state this and the call handler didn't seem to understand what i was talking about and didnt apologise for Barclaycards incompetance. I cancelled my application. I think they were also partly dragging the process out so i was unable to take advantage of the introductory cashback offer which finished on the 31st dec.

sent back documents for address just after Christmas. Nothing heard from them since. Called today, initially they say I have not send it back but after I insisted I had, they went and check and told me that since I have sent them, it will take 7-10 days to process. I reminded them its 3-4 weeks since I sent it back and 2 months something since I applied, not just 7-10 days anymore. They just kept saying it will be 7-10 days. I told them I lost faith in them, they just kept quiet.... I am not further than before.....

I was told on 21st Dec that I would get a written letter in 4 days - never arrived.
I called 11th Jan, my application is still open, operator said he'd call back in 48 hours - never got a call.
I sent a complaint in by secure email (they do seem to deal with those). Have received a letter saying they are looking into it.

Anyone can complain. It's openly avaialble on their website and very accessible.

You can complain in person at your branch, in writing, by email or by telephone.

How much easier do you want them to make it ???? :-)

I always thought I can only send that through secure email. I was wrong obviously. Will get a letter off to them if I don't hear in a week time.

Just got a letter this morning.
Response date moved from 19th Jan -> 16th Feb.

I don't actually want the card (now it's so late), but I was them to provide me with an answer to my application now that they have cost me a credit search.
