I applied for a Barclaycard in Mid-November for its BT offer but have not heard anything from them yet. I know they were having some problems with a huge loads of application then but wondered if anyone else still has not heard from them as well?

I put in a complaint via secure message yesterday (as I'm already a Barclays customer).
I got a call today at 08:30 this morning.
They said they needed to do some address verification. I have no idea why - been at address 8.5 years, have 22 credit accounts (6 current, 16 settled) at that address and I've been on electoral role for 8.5 years.
They said there was a weeks delay for which they apologised, but that I would hear from them by letter in 4 working days - that's obviously going to co-incide with the Xmas break.
I don't believe their timescales as I've been given timescales from them twice before.
I don't think I will keep the card if I get it, it doesn't give me any benefits.
I would request a cashback extension but I have no particular spending plans for Jan.0 -
any idea who I should be complaining to? I am not a barclays customer currently.0

I would try the application and new customers number which is free
http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/contact-us
They will give you a ref number for your application so you can use that in future.
Would be interested to hear what they say.0 -
that's the number I have contacted numerous time which can't do anything for my application as its a different department they say.0

I think we have to wait a bit longer I'm afraid.
A month is not good, but I don't think it's illegal to be that slow.
If you need quicker or good service then you are probably better off going elsewhere.0 -
Complaining to Barclaycard is useless.
Of course there is nothing to lose and indeed the principle of voicing your unsatifaction is the main issue.
However, there are many posts on here that fully support the statement that Barclaycard CS and complaints are crap; and it doesn't help when you cannot talk to an English person.
Probably better just to move to a different CC provider if that is possible. lolI have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -
I think I mentioned this in the past in another thread. I am not too bothered whether I get the card or not although being able to transfer my balance will be great, however, I am not too fuss currently as my 0% purchase have a few more months to go anyway. The problem is I have been credit checked by them and would really like to know whats the outcome of the application rather than them telling me my application is OPEN, which meant absolutely nothing to me unless I was informed of a decision. Its in this status for a month now, how long will it take for them to say yay or nay?
I wonder whether lisyloo will actually get a letter from them re address verification as I was told they are going to send me such letter before as well, might be a standard reply from their application centre, I don't know.0 -
I believe they are slow and I have no faith in what their staff tell me, but I do think we will eventually get decisions. They have always got back to me.
As it's out of your control, I don't think you should worry about it too much over Xmas and New Year.
We can't tell you how long it will take and there is nothing anyone can do to help I'm afraid. They are allowed to take their time if they like.0 -
I was given a number to call to customer service. Was told by them that a letter was sent to me asking for a signature but probably was lost in the mail and they will send another letter to me... I do not believe them really, but hopefully a letter will come at some point....0

hm.... finally got a letter from Barclaycard asking for 2 proof of identity and address. Sent them back today. Lets see if they will get back to me soon... Think they might just come back with a reject letter though.0
