Insurer cancelling policy. Driver can't have 4 years no claims on more than one car

As above, we are a three car household and can only have two lots of NCB applied to cars as there are only two of us. So we have one car (my OHs run about) that has no NCB on it at all as he can't use it twice- even though he has a driving history without incident for over 30 years.
If we went to a different insurer for the little car we still couldn't get any NCB as that will still be being used on the big car- and we can't use it twice.
Obviously we did negotiate a discount when we got quotes by saying if they would knock some money off we would take all 3 cars to them , if they didn't then we would insure each car seperately with whichever insurer came in cheapest- as some insurance companies 'liked' the little car and were happy to discount down rather a lot even without a NCB. So effectively the insurer price matched the lowest quotes we could get on all three cars.
Of course you can earn NCB on your 3rd car! The NCB is earned on the policy so if you have 3 vehicles insured under 3 seperate policies then you will accumulate 3 lots of NCB.All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

Doesn't matter what we accrue (and we already have both got full NCB) we can still only use it against one car each and that's what the OP was about.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No sorry but you are wrong. As an individual, you can accrue more than one no claims bonus.
We also have 3 cars in our household - 2 in my name and 1 in my wifes name. We have max ncb on all 3 policies.
As long as you dont try to use the same NCB on 2 policies at the same time you are fine. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
i think that nfu mutual allow you to use your ncb on more than 1 car? at least they did approx 3 years ago when i was last insured with them.i had 2 cars insured through them, and they gave me the ncd on both.they also allow you to drive other cars and motorcycles on a 3rd party basis on the policy, which i also found very usefull,as my son had a moped at the time.you normaly find them a little bit pricy when you first join them, but then on your renewal the price of the policy drops because they share any profits made with the policy holders.but haveing said all of this.i found recently when trying to rejoin them after a 3yr break in my driving, they wouldn't insure me as they said i didn't live in a rural enough area?they said that they were trying to get back to their traditional roots, and now only offer policys in more rural areas? very strange for any company to turn buissenes down.0

Lets say you have two cars between you and max NCB on both.
You then get a third car and insure it in your name with no NCB.
A year later at renewal you can insure the two original cars with max NCB and the third car with 1 year's NCB.0 -

You can have several as long as you earn the extra NCB on each car.0 -
Just to add another pointer to this thread, if, as the OP suggested he be allowed to use a No Claim Bonus discount already earned and being used on one car towards another car - when you actually think about it in reality it would/should never work - say you have a full No Claims on your car and you come into some money and buy another 10 cars - are you seriously suggesting that each and every vehicle can enjoy the 65% discount which has been earned on the original car, AND more to the point (which hasn't been mentioned yet) should a claim arise on any ONE of the 11 cars would the policyholder accept loss on the No Claims Bonus on ALL the vehicles !! - I think not !!0

Recently I was conducting what resembled a military operation when moving 1 policy onto DLine to sit with 2 others we have with DLine. I had to accept that I had no NCB with my new car for about 3 months until I could place 1 son as main driver (own NCB now) and t/f my NCB to my new car. Aaaaaaaaaagghhhhhhhh:eek:
Slightly off topic but did you manage to convert your sons' 4 years NCB as named drivers to 4 years NCB as full policy holders?
I ask as I am currently a named driver my parents' Direct Line policy and currently accrued 3 years named NCB and I've read conflicting information regarding this issue.0
