Personally I'd rather shops be much cooler as you can always add layers if you wish to.
when i shop in shopping centres such as the gatehead metro centre I will always have my coat on with my wallet, mobile phone etc in my inside pocket and my coat zipped right up, this way pickpockets wont get anything if they try0 -
Have you seen the new crime sweeping the West End of London where gangs surround a hapless reveler and shake his hand and give him a hug before stealing his wallet, phone, and watch before he has time to realise what is going on? By the way I understood that folk in the North East never wore coats, or is that just the young'uns?0

I must visit the area one weekend some time in the future.0

|Oh my OH would love to see this thread - she works in a large bookshop (a very common English surname) and she has 3-4 layers on to get through the day. Temperature has dropped as low as 9 degrees before heating gets turned on by the manager due to the costs!
Even customers complain how cold it is so if any of you want to cool down whilst shopping, I can recommend one place!
I work there.. (I think, not same store) .. if we're cold, we stick heating on whether or not boss agrees ... it's more a case of if the heating will work properly, lol
I've had two pairs leggings and socks on since october0 -
I reckon in the clothes shops it'll be because they want people to not get cold when trying stuff on - but I know what you mean, horrible when shops are too hot, bright and noisy when you're all wrapped up in winter layers crashing into one another!0

It's difficult for shops, because the staff are there all day and probably only wearing a t shirt or jumper when the customers are all wrapped up in loads of layers for outside. They could provide staff with more clothing but bulky clothes will be more restrictive and won't allow them to move as wellMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

To me it seems ridiculous that shops are of the temperature where staff are able to wear a t-shirt. I wouldn't have my home that warm so it suggests that shops are well off if they can afford to heat to that level.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

i work in a shop with a huge roll down shutter and our uniform is short sleeved - when we moved to a larger store we had to fight to have heating installed - we are there 8 hours a day in the winter in short sleeved tops!! we need to be comfortable.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. That's my point, if the shop is heated enough to allow staff to wear short-sleeved tops then it's too hot for customers.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
