A New Year and fresh start for this mummy!!

Welcome to my New Year, new diary! (well nearly the new year :D) Things went a little wrong at the end of last year so I want to start afresh and not dwell on the bad and just concentrate on the good that 2012 is going to bring for us.

We have 5 little kiddies and have had the last 3 each year for the last 3 years, so looking forward to the fact that we do not have to save for paternity pay and the new things that baby’s need (although of course miss the fact I’m NOT pregnant as I think I always will :):o ). So I hope that we will be able to hit the debt a bit better this year as will not have them costs?? But will see how it all goes :p

I have lots of plans – as always! I will be trying to pay of debt, whilst also enjoying life while the kids are young! Lots of the money saving things I am planning will be going towards xmas 2012.

I am joining the thread to save all my £2 coins in a pot. They will be saved for next xmas.
All 20ps will be saved in a pot for DD1s school snack money as she needs 20p a day. Any £1s will go towards DD2s snack money and kids pocket money. All other change into a sealed pot, which will be used for the summer holidays.

I want to transfer money into a separate account for spending money (food petrol clothes etc). I will transfer tax credits and child benefit and the extra money after the bills into the account. Out of this money it will have to cover:
Food (£100 a week:eek:)
Petrol (£100 a mth)
Entertainment money
Cloths
Next bill
Park payments (Trying to pay this with sold items from paypal or surveys etc but otherwise will have to come from here)
Overpayments on the CC

I am going to join in with Pennywisepoundstupid and try to make £2012 in 2012! This will first go towards paying for the park payments then when ive paid that the rest will be going towards extras that we need in the year or/and overpayments on the CC.

Im also going to do the Tesco christmas savers account. This will save all vouchers (Which we already have 4000 extra due to car insurance policy) for the november statement which I then hope to be able to double up on presents for the kids. Also will add any time I have a little extra and go into a tesco store which they also send out in november and can use towards the big christmas shop (They do offer a £3 extra voucher if you save over a certain amount over the year – think its over £50)

Im going to do the virtual sealed pot for this year aswell. So every Friday I will round down my bank account to the nearest £10 and will put it into a savings account, this will prob also be used towards xmas next year. I am really hoping for a great debt free xmas next year :D

Going to aim to pay off £9000 off over the year. Hopefully this will really help to lower the debt. We are going to make all over payments to the highest CC which also has the highest APR. Its £5000!!!! So will take us around 18+ mths to be able to pay it all off, but Will be aiming to get it as low as possible for the end off 2012.
Long term goal is to have all the CCs and overdraft paid off by the end of 2014 (So gives me 3 years!!). Then the two loans we have which will finish in 2016 and 2017! Which I will try to save and make final payments for and will start savings towards a bigger house after the CCs and OD. I hope that we will be able to move to a bigger house in 5 years….. Think it’s a reasonable goal… So will work really hard to try and meet this goal (and you never know might even beat it :D )
I will never use Credit again!! Will save for things we need and try to over pay the mortgage etc!!! Plans, plans, plans……Lets hope it all works out one day….

So here we go………

2020 the year of less - Less debt, less waste, less spending, less stuff, less stress!
  • Yep sure is a good amount to pay - but it wont lower our debt by £9000 thats just going to be the amount I spend on debt but interest will be added.......Will see how I get on. It works out £750 a mth  Which seems loads but I really need to make up for having to use the ccs! So will be ebaying everything Ive got lol

I tried to do a survey last night but my comp froze after I had been doing it for about half hr so lost conection with it!! Typical. Will try and do a few more tonight.

I am going to see Santa this morning and some real Reindeers :) Kids will love it. Then I have the dog booked in for hair cut (She desperatly needs it bless her!!) and family coming later. So a busy day ahead!! But shouldnt cost too much, mainly the hair cut at £25:eek: Which I dont even spend on my hair lol.

Really need to wrap some xmas presnts, havent even started!! So need to make a start tonight and will do a little each night till xmas as dont want to spend all night on xmas eve wrapping....

Well best go and get the kids ready for Santa :)

Hope that you are able to really beat down the debts this year. I guess with no new baby costs, that will help alot. Have you done an SOA lately to see where you are with your spending? Or do you think it is all under control now? Would an SOA help you focus?
