The Louis Marchesi (Useles fact: He was the founder of the Round Table, no the one after King Arthur) always seemed to go from quite good, to seedy, depending on the landlord. Dunno what it is like now.kitchpoo wrote:Nice to see another afficianardo [sp]!!
Another interesting drinkery is Bedfords - much more central - but set in a former Crypt for an unusual atmoshepre - trhinking abou it there are 2 more places with crypts - St Andrews Hall restaurant and also The Loius Marchesi"Don't critisise what people look like, how they speak, where they are from, and what they are called. They cannot help it.
Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"

Click here for a good list of attractions in Norwich. There's also links at the bottom of the page for things to see and do in other places nearby such as Horsham, Wroxham, Wymondham, etc.0

Me and my other half love Norwich! The castle still does battlement tours, which are great; also visit The Adam and Eve pub down by the law courts (my OH reckons it's the world's oldest pub - which I'm a little doubtful of! but it is very old); Walnut Tree Shades in Old POst Office Court is very cool as well - it's an American style bar with diner upstairs that does enormous burgers and fab cocktails. If the weather's good, just walking around is lovely (you can walk almost all round the city along the river). Be warned - it can get very very cold though so take some woolies with you!0

Just popped back to say a big thank you to everyone for all the ideas and suggestions :T We had a great time, just wished we could have stayed longer. We certainly saw and did things we wouldn't have come across had it not been for the MSE'rs inside knowledge! Norfolk is fab and the people are so friendly.
Our best bits included:-
General pootling about in Norwich, (river walk and some great old pubs, castle/museum/art gallery)
Clean, smart Travelodge in city centre with pleasant helpful staff
Nice evening meal and fab bottle of wine at the Orgasmic Cafe
Meandering along the coast from Cromer, via Sheringham and Wells to Holkham beach. (Wonderful to see real shops again and not just the usual chains/multiples...Yay...say no to Tesco!!)
Sitting outside in the sun at the cafe, (fab cheese scones), at the lifeboat museum in Cromer watching the fishermen landing their catch of crabs & lobsters
Sadly we didn't get to the Fat Cat or the Sainsbury Centre for Arts at UEA....will just have to go back again!! :jLearn the rules so you know how to break them properly!0 -
The Sainsbury centre cafe is certainly worth a visit, cheap food & very nice too.
Norwich is a wonderful place.0
