How is a work placement in Homebase or Argos going to help people with NO retail experience get a job in an accounts team with 20 years experience? I will love to know the answer to that.

It's a scam for the companies, scam for the DWP, scam for the government.
They say this kind of thing gets people jobs? Jobs my !!!! as they are not offering accounts work or admin or anything other than shop floor work! Not relevant to a lot of people who do not want to or have any retail experience. We’ve had to remove your signature. I think that the WP reckons that this experiance will give people the employablity skills that some lack. The team work, problem solving, organisation, self managment skills etc that some people lack. They probably labour under the belief that you can get these skills doing any sort of work. Obviously stacking shelves alone, or not understanding that this is why you are doing it will not enable this to be achieved. The Princes Trust have the right idea with a mix of team work skills and voluntary work, doing project management etc, to give people these skils. These placements could be so worth while if they were managed properly. Of course, sending an accountant or teacher, or someone with years of experiance in their proffession it is a waste of time and talent. If they made it more obvious, and better managed these placements, the outcome could be a whole lot better.
But they won't.0 -

well my new adviser is continuing to mess me about. i am still yet to meet this person even though they have officially been with me since the end of february. firstly they canceled an appointment without telling me a few weeks ago as i mentioned at the time. by last monday i still hadnt heard anything from them about a new appointment. so i went down there and asked what was happening. she told the receptionist she was in the process of making new appointments for those who were canceled. i gave it until todays post and still no sign of a new appointment. so i went in again today and asked the receptionist when my next appointment is. she said one hadnt been made for me yet and she would get my adviser to book one and send it through the post. i get the feeling i am going to be paying them another visit this time next week.
dont get me wrong i am in no hurry to get a new appointment. i just like to know where i stand. the appointment could be for july i wouldnt care. its just i hear of people being sanctioned for not turning up for appointments they didnt know about and i dont want that happening to me.0 -
Went to my 3rd out of 4 booked 1 hour sessions to do a job search today at my provider.
These appointments have wasted over 15 hours of my time just to do THREE hours of job searching.
It's 100% pointless and couldn't claim my travel as they were waiting for the security co to delivery the £££!! What a joke!
Back on Thursday for my review with my advisor who has been there since my last one left in October but yet to have a meeting with him! How hilarious is that. Had 5 reviews in that time seeing THREE more different people and all asking me to do stuff that they are going to follow up with and nothing has come of that as the next time I see someone else
Didn't get back home here till after 1.20pm today and felt the morning was wasted. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

When I have my review if they book me in for any more I am going to ask how it will get me a job as today I could only apply for 3 jobs in the hour as the PC's got locked 4 times!!We’ve had to remove your signature.
