  • enough for every unemployed person in the area to do 35 hours per week? people will wreck them. what if the net is down.
There will be a mega long line of people waiting to use them like there is at the libarary. I can't wait to be on the work Programme NOT lol

As said here before this universal site would have to contain EVERY single job advertised in the UK and including all jobs advertised on companies websites as if you apply of one of those via their site how do you prove it as it will not be on this unversal site.....seems very odd and badly thought out as usual.

what you would have to do is ensure you meet your obligations with whats available on the jobcentre site and then if you see anything of interest elsewhere then just apply for that as well if you want to.

Does anyone sane think there are really good professional jobs on the job centre plus site? LOL There was only 3 jobs up to 15 miles from where I live today in accounts and I cant apply for any of them as they all want property experience.

Where as if you look at say Reed there are over 40 jobs added today in my field and have applied for 4 that they wont be able to see.

This will only create more applications that you are not suited to or have any experience in.

Still begs the question how they are going to check these and moniter the time spent on the site.

it may match you to jobs from other sources but you could still see a job elsewhere that it hasnt matched you to.
a lack of professional jobs will be seen as no excuse to them. people will be expected to apply for anything they can do.
yes even more employers will be inundated with unsuitable applications.
  • with mine it seems to depend on either them seeing you as an easy target or them wanting to annoy you. mine has told me i have to be there once a fortnight but i know someone else who hardly ever has to go there.
Once a fortnight? I wish I only had to turn up for work with my annoying employer once a fortnight.

well lets wait to see as I can't really see that happening at all as the JC have a job even keeping appointments let alone keeping track of job applications.

Oh yeah and to add this - there is no point anyone tracking any applcation unless they can get you the interview.

i suspect if it happens it will be similar to what i do now on my providers website. i dont think they will be able to look at applications. it will really just be a way of recording what you do online instead of on a piece of paper. it cant be compulsory because they cant guarantee internet access for everyone. even if you go to your library there may not be a computer available, the net could be down, the library could be closed, you may only get 1 hour etc.
keep in mind in advance if they ask you if you have access to the net say no if you dont want to be part of this.

The YTS was the equivalent of the Modern Apprenticeships, nothing to do with the WP.

My WP person told me yesterday that I would now be getting fornightly calls from the admin lad, as she was too busy. Her case load was too high for them to managed to do fornightly calls. She also told me of a job that was going, but the company was terrible to work for, so not to bother......

Yes, same for me. My advisor has also told me she is so busy she cant handle the amount off people she has to deal with...350 people to be exact. I get fortnightly calls, thats only when she remembers me and isnt too busy! The past 6months has been monthly calls only.

Record what on paper? Jobs you apply for? The friend I have who is on it told me he emails over all the jobs he has applied for ie the links online and who the application went to - if it was a company or agency. I think he does that weekly.

No one has thought this through at all as it's not one size fits all .

Do you apply for jobs via your work programmes website?
