if you are long term sick, they aren't interested either.
mine is. they refuse to believe your condition has any impact on you getting a job. i have no chance of working on a construction site due to health reasons and yet recently i was forced to do a cscs card course.

Does anyone have any experience of heading into the work program with a verbal job offer? I have a job offer with a start in September but nothing in writing yet (i'm hoping this will change soon) and of course im looking for something that will start sooner. I dont want to tell the JC or WP until I have something in writing in case the position is withdrawn and im now due to start the program in the next 2 or 4 weeks.

I wouldn't mention it to either JC or WP until nearer the date. I would also advise you not to sign the forms that give the WP permission to talk to anyone about you otherwise they will start hassling your new employer to give you a start date asap.

My neighbour has just found out her job that she was waiting to start (waiting for CRB checks to come back) has been withdrawn because the WP kept phoning up demanding that forms they had emailed be returned to them and that they hurry up and give her a start date.

She is now making a formal complaint and refusing to go to any more appointments with them.

theres no law saying you have to inform the wp provider when you get a job. even with the jobcentre you dont have to tell them you got a job when you sign off. you certainly dont have to tell them the name of the employer.

Ah okay, cheers :) Can I just refuse to sign data protection permission forms for the WP then? Ive got no objection over doing the program but would rather not lose this job offer

i believe you can refuse to sign them but it can often result in them getting petty and giving you a hard time. i asked my adviser about this and even with the forms signed if you just signed off without telling the provider anything they are powerless to do anything.

I got an interview today, they phoned me at 7pm last night and want me there at 10am this morning, should keep the WP people happy. I'm going to have to blag a little bit as I'm not as familiar with some of the stuff that are part of the job.

Got there early and the interview went well, fingers crossed as it's a very interesting job.
