The Work Programme New Thread

We all know the WP is pointless for the majority of jobseekers and those who they can't help are more than likely going months between appointments, in fact I have seen the jobcentre advisor more than my WP advisor. Last appointment I missed as I got no letter they were supposed to have sent, so had a session over the phone, that's really good service(not)

I am honest in as much I tell them what I have done to get a job, and following up on interviews and applications. But I know how to play the game by now, just tell them in no uncertain terms I am already doing more than what they are doing. I sometimes think the JC think WP is something like jobclub whereby you go 3 times a week read a few newspapers apply for a few jobs and that's done.

I do my jobsearch from home no need for me to go into their office everyday and it would cost them loads for all these courses.

they told me they could not believe I ONLY go once a month and spend 6-8 mins there like I was some kind of liar.

Like I have said if I did lie and say yeah its great the next question would be so why are you still unemployed

You can just not accpet they do not like being told the WP is no good (the jc that is)

whether i am doing something pointless or not is not an argument for being sat in a providers office.
after stating you are a veggie they would just push some equivalent job. what did you think they would do? say ok you can go home then.
i do accept the jobcentre may not like hearing negative comments about a provider. i am saying no good can come out of telling them.

there is NO equivalent in McDonalds where you wouldn't have to touch MEAT

can you not work out what is meant by equivalent job to mcdonalds? i mean crap, similar pay, similar hours etc.

Everyone needs to stand up to the WP and stop taking the easy way out by saying nothing to these idiots, stand your ground.

I finished my job in january when my contract was up and i was sent on the work programme with pertemps in staffordshire, im disabled with several health problems and to be honest, i feel i have been parked because they feel it would be hard to get me a job.

In april i got sick of being given an appointment and sent home, so i went to the jobcentre for advice who told me to go and see pertemps manager, which i did and he enrolled me on a learn direct course and i thought at last im actually doing something. shortly after i developed skin cancer so had to have a month off why i went through the surgery. this has left me with added problems muscle loss from where the tissue was taken from. i've just completed my IT1 today at learn direct.

whats next i ask? surrounded by blank faces.
after much being sent up and down stairs they come to the conclusion the only thing they can offer me is an employability course, to show me how to be confident and fill application forms in ( dont you need the job to apply for first) and it comes with a certificate oh wup de do dah. :T

i feel this and the work programme is a complete waste of time, there are jobs out there i dont have the skills for, when you ask about getting those skills all you get is, we dont do that here.
and after months of studying IT the manager know tells me, she feels with my muscle loss after the cancer clerical wont be for me, which leaves me with no idea what job to do. All i have been told is to come in and see an adviser next week, where they will conduct a diagnostic to identify my barriers, im sorry but this should have been done when i started in january.

Er and I would be OVER QUALIFIED for them dear.

If I got turned down for an accounts job as I had too much expereince I have a good chance getting one of these crap jobs that you haven't got either.

It's full of people looking after their jobs running the 'system'.
That's why a lot of them are there, they wanted relatively safe jobs which don't cause them trouble.

They want to hear what they want to hear, if you tell them something different they'll naturally first assume you're the problem & not doing enough.

They & the WP provider will get you to run faster & faster & faster, till you're running around in circles.

It doesn't matter to them whether you crash & burn.

I told the JC that the WP ONLY want me to send them on email 5 jobs a week that I have applied for. I however are applying for at least 50 but they are not wanting that as I have been told it's far too much and we do not need all of them.

That is why I want it all in writing to prove to them I am doing what the WP tells me to do (and a lot lot more).
