Stone found in Tescos ice cream. What to do?

My friend showed me the stone she had found in a tub of Tescos Fruits of the Forest ice cream. Luckily it was her that got it, not the 2 yr old or the 8 yr old she was sharing it with. It's about 1cm wide and is dark blue.
My gut reaction is that the stone was probably picked up at the time the berries were harvested and has never been picked out.
I think she should contact Tescos about this or the environmental health people, but she is not one to make a fuss.
Any ideas what the best plan of action would be?

Foreign bodies in food are dealt with by Environmental Health, any issues with food which are related to the food product itself (i.e. gristle in meat) would be Trading Standards.
It may well be a one-off but I would certainly complain.0 -
It's usually just best to send it to Tescos (there should be an address on the side of the icecream tub). They'll be able to determine where the foreign body was introduced, and they'll probably send you some money off vouchers aswell.0

The last thing I would do is hand over the product to Tesco. If you do that, you'll just be fobbed off with a small gift voucher, they'll destroy the evidence and the whole matter will be swept under the carpet.
Take the product and the stone to Environmental Health - they should have an office at your local town hall. Then let Tesco know what you've done.0 -

Sometimes things like this happen, it's most likely an isolated incident, it'll be internally investigated and brought up at staff meeting to try and avoid similar incidents.
The 'small gift voucher' isn't a fob off, since noone was injured there is no claim for compensation, so really you can't expect anything.0 -
No, but what I meant was that Environmental Health might want to prosecute them in the wider public interest. There might be a long history of this having happened before, and maybe warnings were not heeded.
Food safety regulations only work if things are reported to the correct authorities. You can never, ever, trust the likes of Tesco to "self regulate".0 -
isnt it a fruit stone out of one of the forest fruits?0

I find it amazing that something as serious as a stone in ice-cream, in which a kid could choke to death immediately draws the "compensation" crowd out of their rat infested holes. (not including the op in that remark)
Luckily nobody was hurt so I would contact the Environmental Health and let them investigate and hopefully prosecute.
That will be compensation enough.0 -
I hope there is some 'compo' for this - as I'll make a fortune
because every time I eat a tub of ice cream - I find a stone -
around my tummy0
