Tent for Homeless man

If everyone who reads this thread did one thing -be it donate to a homeless charity -buy food for a homeless person-whatever and then posted -and if each person who read THEIR post did the same it snowballs.
CATS I think you've made a lot of people think -and become more open to helping -This thread has become about so much more than what you first intended. Kudos to you and Merry Christmas !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
+1 for the bivvy bag idea. They're basically a waterproof sleeping bag cover, more practical than a tent. You can pick them up cheap at army surplus or camping shops.
And so what if the guy sells the stuff for booze? That's his problem not yours, you've made a lovely gesture and your Karma is intact.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I will buy him a rucksack and put in a new hat, scarve, gloves, socks, sleeping bag, a thermo flask (I hope he can fill it with hot drink often), a few fleece jumpers. Maybe I will forget the tent. I will see if I can buy the dog a jacket to wear also. I think I will get a few dog treats. Now I just hope he is there today.
:jyou are such a kind person, thats the spirit of christmas :j0 -

the really sad thing is, that a lot of homeless people are ex forces.
Find it so maddening that in 2011 people still have to sleep on a piece of cardboard.
OP, you did an amazing thing. Well done xx0 -

OH was disgusted to discover that 2 blokes he served with in the Gulf War were reduced to living lives like hobos.
They got used up and tossed aside basically. Our society has a lot to answer for at times.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Sadly though I've just seen my neighbour's 38 year old son in town begging, claiming to be homeless. I said to him, "You're not homeless...!" and he said "keep your voice down will you! People will hear you!"0

same here, a guy i know is a drug addict begs in town.
we do a lot for the homeless, mums friend volunteers in one in liverpool. any clothes the men in the family dont need go there. mum buys hats, gloves scarves etc and passes them in.sounds daft but we buy stuff like mugs, they hand soup out and tea.mum goes in charity shops and buys jeans, boots etc. even my son gets all his mates old clothes for the place, they have a huge store room downstairs full of stuff.
they have residential beds, homeless are allowed to stay for a set time but they also feed and clothe others.
what i'm trying to say is homeless people can go to these places for clean clothes and a hot drink so maybe it would be best to donate there instead of to an individual?Shine on you crazy diamond..............0 -

High time it was sorted out, it's the main thing that would always make me discourage my kids from going into them.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
